Songridan-gil bar with early-evening gopchang hot pot: Horanggul

In short

Horanggul Bangi Branch is a gopchang (beef intestine) hot pot izakaya in the Bangi dining alley in Songpa, Seoul. Stopping by in the early evening for a second-round drink, the writer ordered the Horanggul gopchang hot pot for two plus an egg risotto, and learned that each pot's vegetable broth is drawn fresh, so broth refills aren't possible. With its rich broth and glossy rice, Horanggul Bangi Branch works well for a Songridan-gil date or a team dinner.

Horanggul Bangi Branch: a Songridan-gil bar for a second round

Horanggul Bangi Branch is famous as a gopchang hot pot spot on Songridan-gil. I was looking for somewhere with good vibes for a quick early dinner and a second-round drink, and ended up here because I was craving something rich and soupy!

Entrance of Horanggul Bangi Branch with a hanok-style exterior

It's tucked inside the Bangi dining alley next to Lotte World, easily accessible from Jamsil, Songpanaru, and Seokchon stations — also a spot recommended for work dinners among Bangi-dong office workers.

The exterior has a clean, tidy hanok (traditional Korean house) feel, and with the warm lighting added on top, the atmosphere was great.

You can taste the same flavor as the flagship store, which has won two consecutive years of Blue Ribbon recognition, right here in Bangi-dong — which is why it's popular both as a second-round spot and a Bangi-dong work dinner venue.

Horanggul Bangi Branch hours and break time

Horanggul Bangi Branch is open daily from 11:30 to 24:00. There's a break time from 3 to 5 pm, so lunch and dinner orders are taken separately — this time I came in during early dinner hours!

Menu: gopchang and daechang hot pot, plus noodle add-ons and sides

You could check the menu from outside too — the main dish is, of course, gopchang/daechang (beef intestine) hot pot! You can add noodles or risotto to the pot, so it single-handedly solves any drinking-snack dilemma. There were also plenty of good side dishes to add, like gyoza, soba, and okonomiyaki — a solid Japanese-style spot for a Songridan-gil date.

What the interior and seating are like

Inside, Horanggul Bangi Branch feels warm and cozy, like a Korean-style pub. I went right after opening on a weekday evening, so seats were plentiful. The tables were standard 2–4 person size, but it looked like groups of 5–8 could fit comfortably too.

Water, utensils, and small plates were already set on the table, and ordering was done right at the table via QR code.

I could order straight from my phone, checking menu photos and descriptions on the spot and placing the order right away — so convenient at this Bangi-dong gopchang hot pot spot.

When ordering, if you also add a receipt review, they throw in a whole extra portion of meat — you just need one keyword in your photo review, so I'd definitely recommend doing it.

Horanggul gopchang hot pot for two, simmered for 10 minutes

What I ordered this time was the Horanggul gopchang hot pot for two! It came out fresh and uncooked, and they even set a timer for us to simmer it.

After waiting about 10 minutes, the gopchang hot pot arrived!! Clean gopchang along with an assortment of vegetables, fried tofu, and tofu filled the pot — quite a sight. Apparently each pot's vegetable broth is freshly drawn from fresh vegetables, so broth refills aren't possible, unfortunately.

A staff member explained how to eat it, but it was also kindly written out in front of the table, which was handy to reference. Since the meat needed a bit more cooking, we let it boil hard!

The drinks we ordered came served over ice in cups — a nice touch.

Once the gopchang hot pot was fully cooked, a staff member expertly stirred it together, and a spicy, punchy smell hit right away — the kind of dish that really makes you want to drink.

There were also more vegetables at the bottom than expected, so it seemed like two people could easily fill up on the gopchang hot pot plus noodles or risotto as a meal.

The broth's color alone was amazing... they said each pot draws fresh vegetable broth, and true to that, the clear yet rich broth blended perfectly with the savory fattiness of the gopchang — the soup alone made this a proper Songridan-gil date izakaya.

The broth is rich and thick — this is just straight-up drinking food...

Yuzu soy sauce with rice: how to eat it

The yuzu soy sauce served on the side was just the right amount of sweet and tangy, perfect as a dipping sauce — dipping the well-cooked vegetables into it wasn't overwhelming at all, just right.

The rice was so glossy it was basically a rice destination on its own. Honestly, the rice alone was delicious, but pairing a spicy, punchy spoonful of gopchang hot pot broth with a moist, savory scoop of rice made everything warm and filling.

Better for a date or a group dinner?

As time went on, the place filled up almost completely — this Bangi-dong spot Horanggul also seemed to attract a lot of 5-6 person group dinners. But it wasn't overly loud either; the atmosphere was good for chatting quietly over a delicious hot pot, which is why I'd recommend it as a Songridan-gil date spot too.

Finishing with the egg risotto add-on

Honestly, I was already full from the gopchang hot pot alone, but it felt like too much of a waste to just leave, so I ordered a risotto add-on! I went with the basic egg risotto, and the staff adjusted the broth amount just right and made it fresh on the spot.

It had more of a thick, real risotto texture rather than the porridge-like consistency you'd usually get after a meal, and the seasoning was just right — so delicious that I ate almost all of it even while already full haha. It tasted way too good to leave any behind...

After eating, if you leave an additional review on Kakao Map or T Map, they give you a free Tico ice cream bar as dessert — a nice way to round things off at this Songridan-gil Korean pub.

Both the owner and staff were so friendly, and the food was delicious too — a great Songridan-gil date spot overall.
