Yongsan donkatsu restaurant, à la carte for two cutlets solo: Onjeong
In short
Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch is an old-school Western-style donkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant on Baekbeom-ro near Hyochang Park Station in Seoul. Arriving just after 11am on a weekday as the first customer, the writer ordered cheddar cheese donkatsu and green tangerine soba à la carte rather than as a set and finished both alone, and the à la carte donkatsu came as two large cutlets smothered in cheese sauce. The verdict: if you want that retro Western-style cutlet, there is no need to travel all the way to Namsan.

Cheese equals me = me equals cheese... that's how much I love it. I was searching around and found a Yongsan donkatsu spot — and whoa, the visuals were insane *_* This is exactly the kind of place I'd love!!! So I ran straight over. So happy right now..♥ It's also fairly close to Hyochang Park, so it's easy to swing by from there.
Where is Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong, and what is it like at opening time?
Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch is located at 107, 1F, Building B, 341 Baekbeom-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Here's the location.

I spotted it right away just from the exterior. Looked promising...? Apparently all the cutlets and sauces are handmade fresh every day. And rice and side dishes are unlimited refills~~ ooh?

Snapped a bit of the interior. I visited as the first customer on a weekday. Got there a little after 11am and it was quiet, but by the time I left it was almost full,, definitely a hot spot.

Onjeong's menu lineup and the unlimited rice and side dish self bar
So this is the menu. The basics are classic Korean-style spicy, cheddar cheese, curry, and more — quite a variety. You can also get a set with udon + buckwheat noodles. Didn't get a shot of the self bar, but it was kept impressively clean. The kitchen looked like an open kitchen too, and it was spotless. Staff were all friendly~~~ And the BGM was totally my style,, they played old 2000s songs and I loved it haha. Completely my taste, right?

The food came out soon after. Ah, I knew right away — this is a real Yongsan donkatsu spot. You just know after visiting enough good places haha. I came alone but ordered two things. Because I'm greedy like that..

Cheddar cheese donkatsu: two cutlets loaded with cheese sauce
Cheddar cheese donkatsu. I was so curious.. what even are you? Is this visual crazy or what?????? How could anyone not eat this after seeing it???? The sauce was piled on this generously. And it's cheese sauce, at that!!!!!!!!

I nearly went crazy taking photos.. I wanted to eat it so badly haha but when something's this good you have to keep examining it closely.. gotta take at least 100 shots minimum. That's basic respect for the food ^,^

The default sides that come with the meal. There's also soup, and it even had mushrooms in it. Generous portions,,

Exactly ! Old-school Korean-style donkatsu ! These days everything is sold Japanese-style, so this kind is rare,, I've been hunting for it and I think I found the right place ^^ V

Flipping it over like this keeps it from getting soggy. The oil must be really clean,, the cutlet was pure white haha, made me happy!!!! It was also incredibly crispy.

Wow......... you have to cut old-school Korean-style donkatsu into big pieces and eat it big-bite style, you know. Haha, it's the unwritten rule.. The sauce was so good I smothered everything in it. It comes with 2 pieces, and honestly I felt like I could eat 3. They're big too.. so good ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Everyone who loves rich, indulgent food, gather round.

Is the green tangerine soba worth adding à la carte?
Green tangerine soba (buckwheat noodles). Next to something rich, you need noodles to cut through the richness~~~ I've been seeing a lot of green tangerine soba lately? Ordered it here too.

The salad that comes as a default side was nice and refreshing too *_*

Need I say more,, it's delicious,,, so refreshingly cold~~~ Kept slurping it up haha, so good.

The noodles were chewy and plump.. Ate well. Glad I ordered it alongside the cutlet. They told me the set only comes with 1 cutlet, so I thought that'd be disappointing.. so I ordered à la carte instead haha haha. Pork it is.

Morning bread mini burger, Onjeong's free dessert
They also serve morning bread, so I stuffed it with the salad, corn, and jam to make a mini burger-style dessert. So good... I want to become a regular here.

Verdict: eating both dishes solo at Onjeong in Yongsan
I ate all of this by myself haha haha haha. Even just the classic version would be great here. If two people come, I'd suggest getting one classic and one cheddar cheese to share. I'll definitely be back.... next time I'll bring a friend. Looking for a good Yongsan donkatsu spot? If you like old-school Korean-style cutlet, run right over,,
Let me be honest here. Skip the trip to Namsan and come here instead,, honestly it's better than what they sell up there
