Tabletop-grilled beef cutlet and brie omurice at Gyuen Dang, Seolleung
In short
Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is a beef cutlet and omurice specialty Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building just a short walk from Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Each table gets a mini brazier with solid fuel to grill sirloin gyukatsu (beef cutlet) yourself, tried with salt and wasabi and then with butter, alongside an omurice with a whole brie cheese melted inside. Both the tenderness and the visuals delivered — a spot to become a regular if you love gyukatsu.

Outside Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch
Gyuen Dang Seolleung Branch is on the 2nd floor of the building ♥︎ Getting closer, it's honestly more like a 1.5th floor? haha. Super easy to find.

Once you go up, you can register for a CatchTable wait, and there's a menu board too, haha.

There's a restroom right by the entrance as soon as you go up.
Inside the restaurant: interior and table vibe
A clean white space with sleek wood tables. 🤍🤎 The big Japanese lettering on the wall works almost like patterned wallpaper, giving a nice decorative effect. It matched the gyukatsu-specialty concept really well. ☺️

Every section has windows letting in warm sunlight, which somehow made the atmosphere even nicer...

Fake flames but still flickering, haha. Seeing the fire got me even more excited to grill the gyukatsu myself. 😚

Menu lineup
The signature dishes are gyukatsu (beef cutlet) and omurice. Besides those, there's a variety of other meals like rice bowls, curry, udon, and tempura.
Trying the sirloin gyukatsu and brie cheese omurice
We chose the sirloin gyukatsu and the brie cheese omurice ♥︎ How tender could the gyukatsu possibly be... how flavorful would the omurice be with brie melted inside... a thousand happy imaginings... Each table has a mini brazier, and once the food arrives, they add solid fuel inside, haha.

How to eat the gyukatsu
How to eat gyukatsu!!! Once the brazier heats up, place the cutlet on the grill plate and first enjoy it plain, without butter. Second round: lightly add butter, grill, then dip in wasabi and salt.

Ta-da. ♡ They put in the solid fuel for us

And soon the sirloin gyukatsu makes its grand appearance ♡ It came with cabbage salad, miso soup, salt, wasabi, butter, sauce, seasoned pickled radish, and even a bowl of rice.

Wow...... it looks so unbelievably delicious.

I put two pieces on to grill 😉 Topped it with salt and wasabi and took the very first bite — ugh......... the kind of taste that makes you go 'ugh' because it's just that good haha 🧡 Wow, it's out-of-this-world tender.

This time with butter! Haha, sizzling and bubbling away, then I added wasabi and salt and tried it — extreme tenderness... unbelievable... haha. My husband and I were both shocked ♡ What was every gyukatsu I've ever eaten until now?? Haha, Gyuen Dang really knows their gyukatsu~~~~~♡
Omurice with a whole brie cheese inside
Next up, the brie cheese omurice! The side dishes are the same as with the gyukatsu.
It's not egg sushi, haha 🤨 lol. Such an adorable omurice. And you can see the brie cheese is put in whole, right? Lol, that's wild.

Let me slice into the egg, haha, check the video, lol — ignore the camera angle slipping in the middle...lol (I should've asked my husband to film — he was busy grilling the gyukatsu, so I filmed it alone... hmm lol)
Like unfolding a folded blanket (?), the omurice looks even more delicious once opened up ♡ Hahaha, drizzling the sauce on too, shhh~~

Wow, ㅠㅠ seriously... lol looks so delicious 🥰 lol I'm writing this post two days after eating it and I'm still this excited... lol

By the time you slice the egg and pour the sauce, the brie cheese has melted smoothly, haha. So you scoop up the egg, the melted brie, and the rice all together and — bam!!! — eat it in one bite... lol. Ahh... heavenly taste ♥︎ The sauce is also super smooth — maybe there's butter in it, haha. Great flavor too, lol.
When the gyukatsu and omurice start feeling a bit rich, this side dish refreshes your palate, haha. This side dish and the miso soup ♡ really pull their weight, lol.
