Seafood poke with scallops, shrimp and truffle mayo at Hola Poke

These days when picking a lunch menu, I find myself avoiding anything too heavy and looking instead for something light but still filling. Especially during a work lunch break, you need something you can eat quickly that still counts as a full meal.

Why I picked poke for lunch near Seolleung Station

So this time, while looking for good restaurants near Seolleung Station, I visited Hola Poke. I've always liked poke, so whenever I'm searching for salad-type restaurants near Seolleung Station, I often end up at a poke place.

If you work near Seolleung Station and are torn over what to eat for lunch, poke seems like a great option.

The vibe and seating

The place was super clean and bright, an interior that makes you hungry just looking at it.

There were various tables for 1 to 4 people, so plenty of options. If my office were near Seolleung Station, this is the kind of place I'd want to come to every day.

The menu at Hola Poke Seolleung Branch

The menu at Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is quite varied — poke, wraps, salads, soups, octopus kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) and salmon kkakdugi — so it was fun deciding what to get.

It felt like being on a trip to Hawaii ⁺⸜(･ ᗜ ･ )⸝⁺ Made me want to go relax somewhere tropical!

How the self-service corner works

Once the food is ready, you go pick it up yourself, and there's a self-service corner set up where you can grab sauces, spoons, forks and water on your own.

My order: seafood poke + mushroom soup

What I chose was the seafood poke with mushroom soup, truffle mayo sauce, and Sprite Zero. Poke alone can feel a bit lacking sometimes, so having a warm soup on the side made it feel like a much more complete meal.

These days more people seem to be mindful of health when it comes to lunch, and poke is great for that since you get to enjoy a bunch of ingredients at once.

How was the truffle mayo sauce?

The recommended truffle mayo sauce had such a savory, umami flavor, so good 🤤 Adding sauce to the plain poke really deepens the flavor, so I'd recommend adjusting the amount to your taste when mixing it in.

It was loaded with scallops and whole shrimp, and I genuinely felt like it had been a while since I'd had such a delicious poke! Poke is fun because the flavor changes so much depending on the ingredient combo, so it might be worth trying a different menu each time you visit. I went with the seafood poke this time, but next time I'd love to try another combination.

The mushroom soup and drink

And personally, one thing I really liked about this set was the mushroom soup. If poke is the relatively light, refreshing dish, the warm mushroom soup felt soft and cozy, and the two paired really well together. Especially since eating just poke at lunch can feel a bit empty sometimes, having the soup alongside made the meal much more satisfying.

And of course, Sprite Zero couldn't be missing haha. A clean, refreshing carbonated drink, it was a good choice for cleansing the palate between bites of poke and soup.

Who would this suit?

I think this would especially suit people like me who want a meal that's light yet filling. I'll definitely think of poke again for my next lunch near Seolleung Station.
