Every weekend evening, searching "where should I eat pork belly tonight" around Eungam Station only to end up disappointed by tough, dry meat — sound familiar?

You make time to eat out, and then you get meat that's just pooling with blood and has no aroma — it's a waste of money and it ruins the mood.

Just spend 3 minutes reading this Yukjjip review, and wandering around Eungam Station looking for a BBQ spot will be a thing of the past.

Inside Yukjjip: priority entry for pregnant guests and 1,000 won soju

At Yukjjip's entrance there's a sign for priority seating for pregnant guests, and on the menu, drinks were 1,000 won for soju and 2,000 won for beer. For a BBQ spot near Eungam Station, both the thoughtfulness and the price stood out at once.

Loved the priority seating policy for pregnant guests!

Soju for a thousand won! Beer for two thousand!! The owner's crazy!!! (sorry for the old-school ad slogan, this really dates me haha)

As a food blogger who's traveled the country eating plenty of pork belly, I've walked in with high hopes and walked out thoroughly disappointed more than once.

Pork belly that's scorched on the outside and dried stiff on the inside is truly the worst.

Then I finally made it out to Yukjjip, the pork belly specialty spot near Eungam Station that's been buzzing lately. Just as the reviews and word of mouth suggested, the moment I walked in, the place was filled with the savory smell of meat and customers laughing.

The moment I saw the thickness and the red freshness of the meat on the table, I thought, "ah, this is the real thing."

Meat and side sauces placed on the table at Yukjjip

Yukjjip's side dishes: a patented grill plate and freshly mixed meljeot anchovy sauce

Yukjjip's grill plate is a patented in-house design, and the salted shrimp (saeujeot) wasn't just plain either. Various sauces are laid out to let you eat the meat several different ways.

The salted shrimp tasted different from other places, so I asked the staff — turns out it's not plain saeujeot but shrimp carefully mixed into a special sauce!

The side players (sauces and such) matter, but at a BBQ place the quality of the meat is what matters most! And the portion size didn't cut corners either — a proper amount landed on the plate (important part).

As a minari (water celery) lover, I added minari (4,000 won).

Important part number 2 — at this Eungam Station pork belly spot Yukjjip, staff grill the meat for you from start to finish, haha. All you have to do is eat like royalty!

Cooking up beautifully

The first bite starts fresh with myeong-i namul (fern-leaf lettuce)

My favorite combo: lettuce wrap + bean sprouts (or scallion salad) + rice + meat = straight into my mouth!

It'd be a shame to leave without trying the pork skin, so I ordered a serving of that too.

It's basically a block of collagen, so you've got to eat it, haha — grilled until nicely chewy, I dug in properly.

Pork skin + soybean powder + seasoned bean sprouts = 100 points

Once again, I cleared every last bit of kimchi. Nom nom

Yukjjip parking, reservations and the best time to avoid a wait

Yukjjip has no dedicated parking lot, but since it's right in front of Eungam Station, public transit is convenient. Reservations are possible for parties of 4 or more, and on a Sunday at 8pm I was seated immediately with no wait.

No dedicated parking + right outside the station + soju for 1,000 won, beer for 2,000 won = public transit highly recommended

Since there can be a wait, reservations are available for parties of 4 or more! If you're going during rush hour, booking ahead is probably a good idea. Otherwise, you could always do what I did — show up at that in-between Sunday 8pm slot and get seated right away...!

Straight from Jirisan, Hanwoo... wait, Hanjjin pork! So that's why it was so good!!! Round of applause! If you want to taste properly juicy pork belly near Eungam Station, don't hesitate — go check it out.
