Today I want to introduce a ribs restaurant worth checking out when you're craving meat near Gwangmyeong Traditional Market. There are days when you just want that sweet, savory marinated ribs flavor, and I heard there's a place nearby that's built up quite a word-of-mouth reputation. Let me share my review of the buzzed-about 'Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi,' covering parking, menu highlights, and the overall vibe.

Where is Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi and where do you park?

Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi is located on the 1st floor of 3-5 Gwangi-ro, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, near Gwangmyeong Traditional Market. If you're driving, it's worth checking parking availability beforehand. There are dedicated parking spots right in front of the restaurant, but only about 2 spots are available, so it's fairly tight. If those spots are full, you can use 'Seongil Parking Lot (paid),' located about 30m to the left before you reach the restaurant. Parking can be tricky near the market, so it helps to know a paid lot is nearby before you visit.

Hand-cut marinated ribs and the house sauce at Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi

The ribs, the signature dish of this Gwangmyeong Market restaurant, involve quite a bit of care. The owner personally hand-cuts each rib, marinates them in a special sauce he developed himself, then lets them go through a second aging process before serving. It's a hassle-heavy process, but the fact that it's all done by hand is what stands out.

When you grill the meat on the plate, thanks to the aging process, the marinade has soaked all the way into the meat and the texture is tender. It's not overly spicy or overly sweet — the umami of the special sauce comes through just right and blends well with the natural flavor of the meat. If you like marinated ribs, this is a flavor you can enjoy without any complaints at this Gwangmyeong Market restaurant.

Unlimited refills of seasoned crab with every meal

Among the side dishes served alongside the meat at Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi, the seasoned crab (yangnyeom gejang) stands out the most. Usually when Korean BBQ restaurants serve seasoned crab, they either charge extra or limit refills, but at this Gwangmyeong Market restaurant, you can get unlimited refills of the seasoned crab.

I visited this time with my mom and my husband, and both of them seemed to love the crab marinade — they refilled it several times. It works well as a side dish to eat with rice before the meat is grilled, or alongside the ribs themselves.

What we ordered and what it cost

We ordered one serving of standing ribs, seoseo galbi (₩22,000), and two servings of pork ribs (₩16,000 per serving).

Both menu items have their own distinct charm. If your budget allows, I'd recommend ordering a bit of both! A basic doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is also provided as a side dish. And it's refillable too :)

Is Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi good with a baby? Chairs, dishware and seating

The interior of Gwangmyeong Seoseo Galbi overall isn't too noisy or cluttered — it has a nicely organized atmosphere. The table spacing and layout aren't complicated, making it a comfortable structure for group dinners or family gatherings. Baby chairs are provided for customers with young children, so families visiting with kids can eat comfortably too. It looked like baby dishware was also available. We had brought our own baby dishware, so we didn't end up using it.
