Siheung meat restaurant for a 3-generation family dinner: Bulhyangjip
In short
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch is a charcoal pajeon bulgogi (grilled beef with scallion pancake) restaurant tucked inside Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, Gyeonggi. Three generations — grandparents, parents and a child — shared the signature charcoal pajeon bulgogi with countryside doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), bibim noodles and steamed egg, and because the meat arrives already grilled, minding a young child during the meal was easy. With a wide private parking lot and a floor-seating room, Bulhyangjip is the family dinner spot the grandparents asked to return to.

Where is Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch, and is there parking?

If you keep heading toward the cluster of restaurants around Mulwang Reservoir, you'll reach it — it's a standalone building so it wasn't hard to find, and there's a large private lot right out front, so parking was easy. When you're bringing your parents or a young child along, easy parking really matters.

The building exterior was nicely decorated, and this place also allows pets.

Inside Bulhyangjip: big tables and a floor-seating room for families
The inside of Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch was bigger than I expected too. The tables were nice and large, good for eating with several people, and there was a separate floor-seating room. It seems like a solid pick for anyone searching for a meat restaurant near Mulwang Reservoir for a family meal or a gathering.

Kiosk ordering and the self-serve bar at Bulhyangjip
You order through the kiosk at each table. We ordered the signature charcoal pajeon bulgogi along with bibim noodles, countryside doenjang jjigae (doenjang stew), and steamed egg.

The basic side dishes come out neat and tidy, and if you run low on banchan or wraps, you can grab more from the self-serve bar.

The self-serve bar was kept clean too, so we just comfortably grabbed whatever we needed.

Since we came with a kid, they even gave us a separate kid's tray and seaweed. It might seem small, but when you're out eating with a young child, that kind of thoughtfulness is really appreciated.

Charcoal pajeon bulgogi: how smoky is it?
While waiting after ordering, you can also watch the meat being grilled over charcoal.

Here comes the main dish, charcoal pajeon bulgogi! Just like the name suggests, it comes spread out wide like a pancake — great visuals right off the bat, and once you lean in, the charcoal smoke hits you. I immediately understood why they named the place Bulhyangjip ("smoky-scented house") haha.

The meat comes already fully cooked, so at the table you just need to keep it warm.
The scallions on top get sweeter as they warm up, so I mixed everything together so it would blend with the meat. The sauce wasn't too sweet, which suited my taste, and the meat itself was tender, not chewy at all. Best of all, my kid actually ate the meat well haha.

Since the meat comes pre-grilled, I didn't have to juggle grilling meat while also looking after my kid, which made the meal a lot easier.
Countryside doenjang jjigae, bibim noodles and steamed egg
And the side dishes here were genuinely delicious too.
First, the countryside doenjang jjigae. The doenjang flavor was really deep, but not in a pungent or strong-smelling way — more rich and layered. It was tasty on its own, but even better with rice, and my parents enjoyed the stew a lot too.

My dad loves bibim noodles so we ordered one, and it turned out to be the style I like, similar to Manghyang-style bibim noodles! The sauce was mixed in with plenty of liquid, like a spicy broth, and the noodles were very chewy.

Rather than a strongly tangy style, it leaned more sweet-and-spicy, just mildly spicy, so I really enjoyed it. If you usually like the Manghyang bibim noodle style, order this one too. Total thumbs up from me!

The steamed egg comes in a stone pot bigger than my hand, piled full. It was fluffy and soft, great for taking a bite in between the spicy bibim noodles, and good for everyone from the kid to the adults to share.

Why the grandparents wanted to come back to Bulhyangjip
Trying it this time, Bulhyangjip wasn't just the charcoal pajeon bulgogi main dish that was good — the doenjang jjigae, bibim noodles, and steamed egg side dishes were all delicious too.

Since you don't need to grill the meat yourself, it came already grilled, which made it easy to eat comfortably for a group like ours — parents plus a young child. The restaurant is spacious, the tables are large, and the parking lot is big too, so it's a solid choice for a family meal or a gathering. Best of all, my parents enjoyed the food so much that we left already talking about coming back. If you're looking for a meat restaurant near Mulwang Reservoir, make sure to order the pajeon bulgogi with its proper charcoal smoke, along with the side dishes :)
