Baegot birthday dinner with bacon bean sprout fried rice: Jeongssi

Hi everyone! Today I'm bringing you a review of Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch, where I took my parents to dinner not long ago :) For my dad's birthday, we went to check out the Siheung Premium Outlets and started looking for a good restaurant nearby — that's how I found this place! I was agonizing over where to go, and everyone kept recommending it as a Baegot restaurant that's filling and hits the spot for everyone, so I decided to visit right away 🤤 From the retro vibe to the generous portions, both my parents and I fell for this place completely, so let me introduce it quickly :)

Where is Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch, and how are parking and hours?

Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch is on the 2nd floor of Orange-dong, 26 Seoul National University-ro 278beon-gil, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:30. Parking is available, and local currency (regional gift certificates) can be used.

Parking space is always the biggest worry when driving to a restaurant! This Jeongwang-dong spot has plenty of room, so even nervous drivers can visit without stress. The surrounding area is clean and tidy, and it's close to Oido, Baegot Life Park, and the Siheung Premium Outlets — perfect to pair with a weekend outing or shopping trip 👍🏻

Mother-of-pearl tables and baby chairs: the retro diner mood at Jeongssi Hambak

Inside, Jeongssi Hambak Baegot Branch has an old-school Western-diner feel with big picture windows, a chandelier, and retro mother-of-pearl patterned tables. Seating is split into tables for two, four, and groups, and there are plenty of baby chairs too.

As soon as I arrived, the dark wood frame and stylish sign welcomed me with that particular warmth of an old-school Western diner haha. Stepping inside, the big sunlit windows and the fancy chandelier came together for a mood that was both stylish and cozy! My mom and dad were especially delighted to see the mother-of-pearl patterned retro tables — the kind we all used to have one of in our living rooms growing up haha. Seating was efficiently split into tables for two, four, and groups, making it a great mood for a Siheung date spot or a family dinner! There were also plenty of baby chairs on one side, so guests with kids could stay comfortably too 👶🏻

Free tteokbokki starter with one refill

As soon as we sat down, cold water arrived in a nostalgic glass Del Monte bottle, along with cute retro green snack-shop cups. And they brought us complimentary tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) in a classic green bowl! I wasn't expecting much from a free side dish, but one bite in, it tasted exactly like the sweet-spicy, chewy tteokbokki from school-front snack shops back in the day haha. Who knew tteokbokki would pair so perfectly with a hambak restaurant haha. It even came with one refill, so we happily cleaned the bowl before the main dishes arrived 😋

On one side, a neatly arranged self-serve bar had diced radish kimchi, crunchy pickles, and spicy jalapeños in hygienic containers, so it was convenient to help ourselves as much as we wanted 🥒

The signature Jeongssi Hambak hamburg steak

First up, the signature Jeongssi Hambak came on a pretty retro-style plate with a thick, hefty handmade patty and a sunny-side-up egg on top, plus a white heart-shaped mayo drizzle over the sauce that made my mouth water just from the visuals haha. Cutting into it with a knife, juicy meat juices poured out from between the tender meat fibers, pairing beautifully with the sweet yet deeply savory special hambak sauce 🤤 Especially popping the yolk and mixing it all with the rice and sauce, the savoriness and flavor filled every bite — my dad really enjoyed it and finished it all haha.

Next came the hambak omurice, which passed the visual test right away with its fluffy, soft egg blanket and a thick handmade hambak patty gently placed on top. Scooping up the rice hidden inside the egg wrap revealed a fried rice with savory bacon flavor and springy shrimp — better than expected! Big chunks of shrimp and bacon, soft egg, and the special sauce all came together for a happy bite every time. With the juiciness of the hambak patty and the moistness of the egg, this is a dish I'd highly recommend for kids and parents alike — no one will dislike it! 👍🏻

Bacon bean sprout fried rice

Last but not least, the bacon bean sprout fried rice completely won over my dad's taste buds! Bacon and springy shrimp were generously packed between grains of rice, and the crunchy, fresh texture of the bean sprouts cut right through the richness. So good... The subtle smoky char flavor plus the savory, salty umami of Jeongssi Hambak's special sauce made it impossible to put the spoon down haha. The three of us ordered three dishes to share, and the portions were so generous that two would have been enough! Seriously, seriously huge portions, everyone ...🥺👍🏻

We even ordered a cola to help us eat more, and finished everything off happily haha.
