Yeonnam-dong pizza restaurant with self-serve topping bar: Sunny's

In short

Sunny's Pizza Market is an American-style casual pizza restaurant on Donggyo-ro in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul. A large half-and-half — half pepperoni, half Sunny's Combination — arrived piled with cheese, with hot sauce, parmesan, pepperoncini and pickles free to take from the self-serve bar, and the leftover slices went home in a box and into the oven the next day. Sunny's Combination won on its variety of toppings, and one large was generous enough that two people still had slices left over.

Large half-and-half pizza at Sunny's Pizza Market in Yeonnam-dong

I was craving proper American-style pizza in Yeonnam-dong, so I went to Sunny's Pizza Market!

Yeonnam-dong has so many great spots already, but this time I wanted a pizza piled high with cheese, so after searching for Yeonnam-dong pizza recommendations, I ended up at Sunny's Pizza Market.

What is Sunny's Pizza Market like inside? A 2nd-floor room with big picture windows

Sunny's Pizza Market is an American-style casual pizza place on the 2nd floor of a building on Donggyo-ro in Yeonnam-dong. The moment I walked in, I liked the vibe. The whole place has that casual, local pizza-shop feel you'd get in the US — the menu board, the little touches around the space, all of it made it easy to just relax and enjoy pizza.

One wall in particular is a huge window, which keeps the space from feeling cramped and gives it a really open, breezy feel. I visited during the day, so natural light poured in and I got to eat while looking out the window — a nice way to soak in that Yeonnam-dong atmosphere too.

I think it'd also be a good spot for a Yeonnam-dong date or a relaxed meal with friends.

Large half-and-half at Sunny's: pepperoni vs. Sunny's Combination

What we ordered was the large half-and-half pizza! Half pepperoni, half Sunny's Combination, so we could try two flavors at once.

The moment the pizza arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was just how generously the cheese was piled on. It looked incredibly appetizing, and when I lifted a warm slice, the cheese stretched out perfectly. Pizzas loaded with cheese can sometimes feel greasy, but the cheese at Sunny's Pizza Market was soft and nutty, so I kept reaching for more slices than I expected.

The pepperoni pizza had that classic American-pizza feel, with salty pepperoni pairing well with the cheese. Familiar, but satisfying thanks to all that cheese.

Slice of Sunny's Combination pizza with various toppings

Between the two, Sunny's Combination was the winner for our taste! With so many different toppings piled on, each bite had a richer flavor, and the combination of cheese and toppings worked really well together. The pepperoni was good too, but if I come back, I'll definitely order Sunny's Combination again.

If you're searching for Yeonnam-dong pizza and can't decide what to order, I'd recommend Sunny's Combination for anyone who likes a variety of toppings. And the portion was more generous than I expected too. True to its large size, each slice was pretty big, and with toppings and cheese piled on generously, two of us ate and still felt full. Personally, I think pizza needs plenty of cheese to be really good, and Sunny's Pizza Market truly earned the description of a cheese-loaded pizza.

What's at the self-serve bar? Hot sauce, parmesan, pepperoncini and pickles

Sunny's Pizza Market also has a self-serve bar. You just grab whatever you need in whatever amount you like — hot sauce, parmesan cheese, pepperoncini, pickles, and other things that go well with pizza were all there.

I especially loved pairing the cheese-heavy pizza with hot sauce and pepperoncini. The occasional hit of spice gave it a whole different feel. If you're a parmesan fan, sprinkling extra on top of the pizza is worth doing too.

How do leftover Sunny's slices taste reheated in the oven the next day?

Since it was a large size, we ended up with some pizza left over, and Sunny's Pizza Market lets you box up leftovers to take home.

We boxed up the leftovers and took them home, then reheated them in the oven the next day. The cheese melted soft again and the crust came back to life — it tasted almost like eating it fresh at the restaurant.

I was worried it might go soggy, but running it through the oven brought the flavor right back, so we enjoyed it well into the next day. The generous portion actually worked in our favor.

Worth it for American-style pizza in Yeonnam-dong?

Sunny's Pizza Market delivered on the casual American vibe, the breezy floor-to-ceiling window, and a pizza piled generously with cheese. Of the half-and-half combo we tried, Sunny's Combination was the tastiest, so I'd love to order it again next time.

If you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong pizza spot and love cheese-loaded American-style pizza, or want a half-and-half so you can enjoy pepperoni and a combination pizza at once, Sunny's Pizza Market is worth a visit.

The portion is generous enough to eat until you're full, and if there's any left, you can box it up and still enjoy it the next day. A place in Yeonnam-dong I'd love to revisit whenever I'm craving pizza — Sunny's Pizza Market.
