Yeonnam-dong date restaurant near Hongdae: Pastiar steak set for two

In short

Pastiar is a European-style Western restaurant on the second floor of a Yeonnam-dong alley in Mapo, Seoul, a 6-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3. From a window seat, the steak set for two — sous vide steak, shrimp toowoomba pasta, one glass of red wine and one grapefruit ade — cost 53,000 won, and even the fruit syrup and the carrot rapee were made by the owner, so everything tasted clean. Pastiar is an easy recommendation for a dinner date or a first date in Yeonnam-dong.

Atmosphere at Pastiar in Yeonnam-dong

Today I'm writing up my review of Pastiar, a Yeonnam-dong pasta spot that's got the atmosphere to match its food! It really feels like you've stepped into Europe, so if you're looking for a restaurant for a date, a first meeting, or a gathering, I'd recommend this place.

What is the window seat at Pastiar like?

With its stylish, sentimental interior, Pastiar really does feel like Europe. We got a window seat, and with the cool breeze coming in and a moody playlist playing, it was so nice haha!! Personally I think it'd be a great spot for a first meeting too, haha.

They also have a weekday lunch special, so it seems like a good place to come for lunch too, haha. Besides that, there's sous vide steak, lasagna, salmon plate pasta and more.

Here's what we ordered!

  • Steak set for two
  • Sous vide steak
  • Shrimp toowoomba pasta
  • 1 glass of red wine

I heard the owner makes most of the menu items by hand! The refreshing, rich homemade grapefruit ade is made with grapefruit syrup made in-house — that plus a glass of red wine, haha. It's a space where you can tell care went into every detail, right down to the cute cat coasters.

How Pastiar's sous vide steak tasted

This is the sous vide steak, one of Pastiar's signature dishes. It felt like a healthy, clean way to enjoy steak, which I loved. There's tomato sauce underneath, and it comes with a wasabi carrot slaw salad on the side. You can mix and match to your taste. The meat was really tender and had a clean, mild flavor — so good!

Oh, and I paired it with red wine, and it was good enough that I wanted to ask what it was called, ugh. I'll have to ask next time I visit >.<

Ta-da, the set for two was laid out so neatly and prettily. I really recommend sitting by the window in weather like this these days~~ You never know how long this crisp weather will last. Hehe. It was beautiful in the evening when we visited, but I bet it's even prettier when the sunlight is streaming in during the day, haha.

The shrimp toowoomba pasta

With its creamy sauce and plump shrimp, this shrimp toowoomba pasta was so good my eyes widened at the first bite. It's got a touch of spice too, so it never gets boring, right down to the last spoonful! I could eat it happily to the end, haha. The shrimp were also nice and big, giving it good texture and making it fun to eat.

Why Pastiar works for a Yeonnam-dong dinner date

I found it tastiest to put the carrot slaw and wasabi on top of the steak and eat it in one bite, haha. Add a sip of that smooth, refreshing red wine on top of that and boom — you're basically in Europe >.< Thanks to Pastiar, this clean and delicious Yeonnam-dong pasta spot for dinner, I had such a happy time on a date with my boyfriend in Yeonnam-dong.

Most of the ingredients that go into the menu — the syrups, pickles, slaws — are all made in-house by hand, one by one. That's probably why everything tasted so clean and delicious, haha. With its European atmosphere and great vibe, it's a restaurant I'd recommend for dates, gatherings with friends, and more. They also have a lunch special, so do stop by for lunch too!
