Mapo café brunch with platter soufflé pancakes: Petrico
In short
Petrico is a brunch and dessert café about five minutes from Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. I ordered the ₩19,000 platter soufflé for lunch with an extra-shot iced Americano, and the fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage made it a satisfying meal. Verdict: a warm, relaxed spot for brunch.

One of those days when I was craving brunch and coffee for the first time in ages! I went to Petrico, a café near Hapjeong Station, for soufflé pancakes as a late breakfast/early lunch. I’d love to recommend it as a great brunch and dessert spot.
How far is Petrico from Hapjeong Station?

Petrico, a café by Hongdae’s Hapjeong Station, is about five minutes from Exit 2. Head into the alley by Woori Bank and you’ll find it easily. From Hongik University Station, it’s in the direction of Exit 1. The entrance has a small garden and the building is brown brick. Everything felt neat and tidy from the moment I arrived. The illustration of soufflé pancakes really catches your eye.
A spacious, comfortable atmosphere

The interior was much more spacious than I expected, and so pleasant!! I really loved the clean, uncluttered décor. Nothing is flashy or overly decorative; everything feels natural.

White walls, wooden tables, and a fresh, leafy green view—everything here creates a natural, comfortable feeling. I arrived a little early because it opens early, and outside the main peak hours it was fairly quiet. There are outlets around the café too, so it’s a nice place to study at a café, work on a laptop, or read.

I loved that there were soufflé pancakes that work well for brunch, along with lots of different desserts. I ordered the platter so I could have it as lunch.
Extra-shot iced Americano

I added an extra shot to my iced Americano. The beans had a nutty flavor, low acidity, and a lovely aroma. Iced coffee gets diluted quickly by the ice, so adding a shot lets you enjoy it strongly right to the end, which I loved.
What comes with the platter soufflé pancakes—and how they taste

The presentation, flavor, and atmosphere—everything made for a perfect brunch!! It came with two plump soufflé pancakes, sweet maple syrup, smoky sausage, nutty scrambled eggs, a tomato and vegetable salad, and whole-grain mustard.

Soufflé pancakes naturally take a little time to prepare. They take around 20 minutes as standard, so come when you have time to spare. Calling ahead to order might be a good idea too!!

They were unbelievably soft, with such a fluffy texture!!! I’ve tried making them at home a few times, but I’ll leave them to the skilled professionals, haha. They were so soft they practically melted in my mouth!!! Slight exaggeration, but they almost felt like cotton candy?!!!

Soft, nutty, and gently savory!! The pancakes themselves aren’t overly sweet, so being able to adjust the sweetness with maple syrup to my taste made them even better!!! With scrambled eggs and sausage too, they made a truly great meal!!
A recharging coffee-and-brunch break

At this cozy, warm café near Hapjeong Station, the pleasant music, fragrant coffee, and delicious brunch all left me feeling recharged in both taste and mood!!! If you’re looking for a great dessert café around Hongdae, I highly recommend Petrico!!!!
