I was craving meat in Hongdae, so I visited Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch near Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It's in a great spot for walking to and from Hongik University Station along the forest path, so it's a nice place to combine with a stroll before or after eating. As you'll see in the photos below, the view of Gyeongui Line Forest Park from the seats is really, really nice. If you're looking to eat pork near Hongdae, I'd recommend this place — and if you want beef and pork together, keep reading. Let's get started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What comes in the 109,000 won set for two?
This time I ordered the set that lets you have hanwoo and handon together. What I ordered was Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch's hanwoo/handon set for two, ₩109,000. The hanwoo is sirloin, and the handon is pork neck and rib meat, so you get to enjoy beef and pork in one order.

Does the staff grill the meat for you?
At Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch, staff grill the meat for you, so I didn't have to worry about managing the grill at the table. A staff member kept an eye on the meat and grilled it for us, so we could eat comfortably while chatting. No need to argue over who's grilling at a get-together — this place is really great for group meals.

First course: hanwoo sirloin
We started by grilling the hanwoo sirloin first. Watching the thick cut of sirloin brown on the grill really got my appetite going. The well-grilled sirloin was tender and had a nice savory flavor. Starting with hanwoo instead of handon meant we could really appreciate the meat's own flavor first.

Next: handon pork neck and rib meat
Next we grilled the handon pork neck and rib meat. The pork neck was mild yet juicy, and the rib meat had a chewier, more satisfying bite than the neck. The staff flipped each piece at just the right time and grilled everything to just the right doneness, which made things easy. Eating beef through to pork in order made it fun to compare the two kinds of meat.
Half-and-half naengmyeon for 7,000 won
With all that meat, naengmyeon (cold noodles) felt essential, so we also ordered the half-and-half naengmyeon for ₩7,000.

This dish lets you try mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) at once, so it was perfect for someone who can't choose between the two. Finishing the meat with the cool mul-naengmyeon, then dipping back into the bibim-naengmyeon, also helped cut through the richness.
Is the set enough food for two people?
Overall, this seemed like a good order when you want to eat a variety of meats.

Because the set has you eat hanwoo sirloin first and then move on to handon pork neck and rib meat, we got to enjoy the distinct appeal of beef and pork separately. Hongdae has no shortage of Korean BBQ restaurants, but if you're looking for one where the staff grill for you, that's a genuinely convenient touch.
This is a good place to visit when eating with friends in Hongdae, when looking for a dinner spot near Gyeongui Line Forest Park, or when you're searching for Hongdae Korean BBQ or a Hongdae samgyeopsal spot but want to eat a wider variety of meat that day.

That day I started with hanwoo sirloin, moved on to handon pork neck and rib meat, and finished with the half-and-half naengmyeon — a satisfying combination for two people sharing a meat meal.
If you're looking for a Hongdae restaurant where you can enjoy beef and pork together, the hanwoo/handon set for two is worth checking out.
