Walking along Uicheon Stream, you start noticing cafés with great atmosphere one by one. This time I stopped by Uisagye Coffee, one of the Uicheon Stream cafés known for a really special dessert.

What kind of café is Uisagye in Dobong, Seoul?

Uisagye is a chimney bread café at 178 Uicheon-ro, Dobong-gu, Seoul. Chimney bread has a charm all its own compared to the cakes and croissants you see everywhere these days — I heard it's baked crisp with a sweet aroma that goes really well with coffee, so I decided to check it out.

Uisagye Coffee felt like a place to enjoy a leisurely cup while soaking in the mood of the season, true to its name. It's a nice spot to rest during a stroll along Uicheon Stream, and it also suits people doing café tours in search of good desserts.

How does the injeolmi chimney bread taste?

The main draw here is definitely the chimney bread, and since this was a repeat visit, I ordered the injeolmi (sweet rice cake) chimney bread. Chimney bread looks completely different from a typical bakery item — it's rolled long and baked, so you get the crisp outside and the soft inside together, which made it fun to eat bite by bite.

The outside was baked golden brown with a nutty flavor, and the more I chewed, a gentle sweetness came through — a different feel from desserts that are overwhelmingly sweet. Paired with hot coffee, the sweetness of the bread and the bitterness of the coffee blended naturally.

The Uicheon chimney bread looked even more fun in person than in photos. If you're looking for something different from your usual dessert, this is worth trying at least once.

Does the chimney bread go with hot coffee?

Uisagye's coffee also went well with the chimney bread. When picking a dessert at a café, how well it pairs with the coffee actually matters a lot, and the clean coffee here suited the sweet, nutty chimney bread nicely.

Uisagye as a stop on a Uicheon Stream walk

If you're heading to a café along Uicheon Stream, I'd recommend making it part of a walking course rather than just going for coffee alone. Walking slowly along Uicheon Stream and then stopping at a café for coffee and chimney bread makes for a nice little break from a busy day.

It's a good spot for catching up with a friend, and equally good for visiting alone to quietly enjoy dessert and coffee. Especially if you want to try something a bit different from the usual café dessert, Uisagye's chimney bread seems like a great fit.
