On a day trip nearby with my mom, we stopped by Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil for soy crab 🦀 We're a mother-daughter duo who love soy crab (ganjanggejang), and this place was apparently already famous in Ilsan, so we visited with high expectations! Being able to eat soy crab and marinated crab (yangnyeomgejang) in one sitting makes this a must-visit soy crab spot in Ilsan.

Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil is at 357-1 Wondang-ro, 1st floor, Deokyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's a convenient stop on the way through Ilsan or Paju.

A Blue Ribbon pick featured on Korean TV

Something caught my eye right at the entrance. There was a Blue Ribbon sticker showing they've been selected since 2022, and apparently the place has also been featured on various shows like Saengsaeng Jeongbotong and Live Today.

The menu includes a ₩24,900 all-you-can-eat option covering soy crab, marinated crab, and crab stew together, and for those like us who didn't need the all-you-can-eat, there's a set meal with one soy crab and one marinated crab for ₩15,000 per person. Crab is also available for takeout, and they said nationwide delivery is possible too.

As soon as we walked in, we could see staff preparing soy crab. Turnover seemed pretty fast, so we got to watch the crab being prepared right away, which only raised my anticipation since I love soy crab.

The inside of the restaurant had a clean yet cozy atmosphere. It was nice for my mom and me to sit and eat slowly, and it seemed like a comfortable place for families to dine too.

We ordered the set with one soy crab and one marinated crab. I liked that as two people, we could each try both soy crab and marinated crab together haha.

How plump is the soy crab at Deodeo?

We started with the soy crab, and the crab was really plump! It wasn't just a big shell — the inside was packed with meat, so picking out the flesh was genuinely fun. The soy sauce marinade was salty with a nice savory depth, great with rice too.

You can't skip the crab shell when eating soy crab, right? 😊 We put rice into the shell and mixed it with the soy sauce marinade, and it was savory and salty — genuinely delicious. It tasted like exactly the reason people search for soy crab spots in Ilsan.

You can order an extra soy crab one at a time even without ordering the all-you-can-eat. It'd be good to add on if you want a bit more while eating the set meal.

The spicy marinated crab is just as good

The marinated crab in the set was also delicious. After picking out the plump meat and wrapping it with gim (seaweed) or vegetables, the spicy-sweet sauce paired really well with the crab meat. It was nice that it wasn't just the soy crab that was good — the marinated crab was too.

Steamed egg custard also came out as a complimentary side. It was fluffy and soft, nice to pair with the crab every once in a while 🐣

The best way to eat the claw meat

On the table was a guide on how to pick out the claw meat properly. It can be a bit tricky knowing where the meat is in the claw when eating crab, but following the guide meant we didn't leave any delicious meat behind ✨

Overall, both the soy crab and marinated crab were plump, fresh, and delicious. You can choose from the all-you-can-eat menu to the one-crab set, and with takeout and nationwide delivery available, this is a great spot to recommend to anyone looking for a soy crab restaurant in Ilsan. I'd love to come back the next time I'm craving crab again.
