Paju army stew restaurant with homemade tteokgalbi: Mom's Uijeongbu

Today I'm sharing a review of Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae, where I had a really satisfying meal during a trip to Paju!

Paju has plenty of places to explore, like Heyri Art Village, and tons of good restaurants for a day out. This time I went to Mom's Uijeongbu for a spicy, hearty bowl of budae jjigae (army stew).

This time I visited Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae in Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju. Walking in, the dining space was neat and clean, and I spotted celebrity autographs here and there!

There's just something extra exciting about spotting autographs like this at a restaurant — it makes you feel like you're at a famous spot. Mom's Uijeongbu had autographs from several celebrities, so it was fun to look around. If you're searching for a place to eat near Heyri Village, this could be worth keeping in mind.

Parking and entrances at Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae

Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae has both a front door and a back door. You can easily enter through the front, but the back door connects directly to the parking lot — which is really convenient when you've just parked and are heading in for a meal!

It's also handy after eating, since you can head straight back to your car through the back door. Having both entrances made getting in and out so easy. If you're driving, it's worth remembering that there's a back door right by the parking lot.

The restaurant was really spacious and quiet!! 😊 It seemed like a great spot for group meals too. And with such convenient parking, what more could you ask for?

How hearty is the budae jjigae?

Finally, it was time to taste the budae jjigae I'd ordered! Mom's Uijeongbu's version combines ham, sausage, and other ingredients, so you get to enjoy both the broth and the hearty fillings together.

Mom's Uijeongbu also has a self-serve side dish bar! Even a bowl of budae jjigae alone is enough to finish off a bowl of rice, but the little side dishes always help, right? They have kimchi, stir-fried fish cake, and seasoned bean sprouts, all of which go great with the stew.

Paju has so many great spots for a day trip, including Heyri Art Village, so a lot of people come out for a weekend drive. After you're done sightseeing and want a hearty meal, something like budae jjigae is a solid choice.

Mom's Uijeongbu, which I visited this time, was easy to get in and out of thanks to its front and back doors, and I got to see celebrity autographs displayed inside.

Above all, the homemade tteokgalbi I had was so memorable that I'd recommend ordering it alongside the budae jjigae.
