Chicken kalguksu and potato pancake in Seonbu-dong, Ansan: Todamok

I visited Todamok, a Korean restaurant in Seonbu-dong, Ansan! I went for dinner after work, but I feel like it'd be great for lunch too, any time really. Let me leave a detailed review below~

Parking and how to find Todamok in Ansan

Todamok is located in kind of a countryside village area, so public transit looks tricky — I'd recommend driving. You can park in front of and near the restaurant. There were a lot of individual taxis parked there too? Maybe a group of taxi drivers having a get-together or something, who knows. Anyway, there's a wooden deck out front, and the vibe and view were so good~

Todamok also looks really good for group dinners and gatherings. Families would be comfortable here too. It's spacious, really spacious~~

The space you see in the photo above has its door open, but it's definitely used as a private room. Perfect for get-togethers! Maybe that's why — when we visited, it felt like a group of guests had just wrapped up a company dinner!

For summer specials, there's chogye guksu (chilled chicken noodle soup) and chogye bibim guksu (chilled spicy mixed noodles), and they sell kimchi too! The prices were reasonable so I was tempted to order chogye guksu, but ended up ordering kalguksu instead...

What two of us ordered: chicken kalguksu, potato pancake, egg roll

There were so many Korean dishes to my taste that I wanted to order everything, but that wasn't really possible... so after a long deliberation, here's what I selected (?). Two of us visited and ordered chicken kalguksu and potato pancake, plus egg roll (not shown in the photo).

First, the basic side dishes came out, and they paired perfectly with the kalguksu!

Chicken kalguksu, 12,000 won

Chicken kalguksu is, as the name suggests, knife-cut noodle soup with chicken meat in it. Price: 12,000 won! There was also algoni kalguksu, which looked like it'd be great for hangover relief or as a drinking snack, but after much deliberation I ordered the chicken kalguksu instead! Not because we don't drink or anything (???), just... this one appealed to me more,,,

There was a family with a kid at the table next to us, and it looked like something kids could eat too! The noodles were pretty generous, and it was pretty tasty overall~

Todamok's signature dish is algoni kalguksu, so next time I'll definitely try that one too....

Why Todamok's potato pancake costs more than the kalguksu

It's a bit much for a side dish to cost more than the chicken kalguksu, haha (though it's only a 1,000 won difference), but I still ordered the potato pancake for a reason! Even before we went, while deciding what to eat, this potato pancake was something I really wanted to order. It had that real, steamed-potato kind of feel to it.

It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, so I ate it up happily. It had a bit of seasoning already worked in, so I didn't need to dip it in anything and still enjoyed it. A while back I ordered potato pancake at some restaurant for a hefty price and was disappointed because it wasn't that good, but this one passed with flying colors!!!

Egg roll, 11,000 won

My companion said they were already full from something they ate earlier, so we didn't order too much food (?) and just got the egg roll. At 11,000 won, it's just a solid, standard egg roll. The menu photo had ketchup drizzled on it so I thought it'd come with ketchup, but it actually came out as a plain original egg roll. But I'm fine without ketchup, and it felt like too much effort to ask for some... so I just ate it as is.

I scraped the bowl completely clean... ugh, so full. But there are still so many dishes I want to try. The whole chicken looks tasty too... the bossam (boiled pork wraps) looks tasty too... the hot pot too... guess I'll have to come back again...

Free coffee from the machine outside Todamok

Outside the restaurant there's coffee and iced tea you can have for dessert.

There's an actual coffee machine!!! There's ice too. A satisfying, full-stomach dinner all the way through to dessert.

If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Seonbu-dong, Ansan, definitely stop by Todamok~ The view alone was so good!!! I wanted to take a walk nearby afterward but couldn't, which I regret, sniff.
