With the chilly weather making me crave warm Korean food, I headed to Choburi Kimchi Jjigae Gojan Main Branch, known as one of Ansan's best stone-pot rice spots.

I'd been eyeing this Gojan-dong spot for a while as I passed by, and finally made it in for a meal.

Inside Choburi Kimchi Jjigae Gojan Main Branch in Ansan
Choburi Kimchi Jjigae Gojan Main Branch is a kimchi jjigae and stone-pot rice restaurant on Gwangdeok 3-ro in Gojan-dong, Ansan. I'd always thought about visiting given its neat exterior whenever I passed, and the meal turned out even better than expected — a real find in Gojan-dong, Ansan.
Walking inside, the interior was extremely clean and well organized.

The wood-toned tables gave a comfortable feel, and the generous spacing between tables made for a relaxed dining atmosphere.

From the first impression alone, it was easy to see why so many people come here for dinner in Ansan or a hearty meal after work. The staff greeted us with warmth and friendliness too, which made this Gojan Station-area spot feel welcoming from the moment we stepped in.

Raw pork kimchi jjigae with gardenia stone-pot rice
I ordered the signature raw pork kimchi jjigae. The pot arrived on the burner packed with thick slices of raw pork, well-fermented kimchi, tofu, mushrooms, green onion, garlic and more. Reservations made via Naver come with a free silver ear mushroom add-on.

A distinctive feature here is that the standard rice is citron stone-pot rice.

The freshly cooked rice came out with a bright yellow hue that made for a clean, satisfying bite — a great match for anyone seeking a thoughtfully prepared meal or searching for Ansan's best stone-pot rice.
The kimchi jjigae broth wasn't overly seasoned; the natural flavors of well-fermented kimchi and pork came through in a clean, spicy broth.

The raw pork was loaded in generously.

Perilla oil chive pancake on the side
I added the perilla oil chive pancake as a side dish. It was thin, packed densely with chives, light in flavor, with a subtle aroma of perilla oil. It paired really well with the spicy kimchi jjigae broth — a Gojan-dong specialty I'd recommend.

Self-serve bar: unlimited rice and ramyeon noodles
Another highlight of this Gojan Station-area spot, Choburi Kimchi Jjigae, is the self-serve bar offering unlimited rice and ramyeon noodles. Scooping warm citron stone-pot rice into a bowl, mixing in the kimchi jjigae and its ingredients with a bit of broth — that's basically a rice thief right there!

How the nurungji sungnyung finish works
The highlight of the meal was the savory nurungji sungnyung (scorched rice tea), made by pouring water into the stone pot after the rice was scooped out. Since the citron stone-pot rice was freshly cooked, the scorched rice at the bottom softened into something wonderfully nutty.
After the spicy, fiery kimchi jjigae, a spoonful of hot, savory sungnyung cleaned the palate and left my stomach feeling really settled. It's a treat that lets you enjoy every last bit of the meal.

Choburi perks, discounts and meal kit prices
Looking around after the meal, I noticed the restaurant offers plenty of thoughtful perks for customers. For one, they're running a warm event for the police officers, soldiers, and firefighters who protect Korea — show your ID or a photo in uniform and get one free raw pork topping.

They also sell meal kits after dining — a ₩20,000-value 3-serving kit for ₩18,000 — plus free door-to-door delivery every Thursday across all of Ansan, so you can enjoy it easily at home too.

On top of that, there's Starbucks and Full Bassette coffee beans and ice cream for dessert after the meal, plus an event giving out roasted buckwheat soba granules when you add their KakaoTalk channel — definitely worth checking out. With a Ministry of Food and Drug Safety hygiene grade of 'Excellent' and Ansan Da-on Card payments accepted, it was a satisfying experience right to the end.

The clean environment, deep broth flavor, and thoughtfully made citron stone-pot rice all came together for a satisfying meal. This is a great spot in Gojan-dong, Ansan for anyone looking for dinner in Ansan, and its location also makes it a good stop en route to Ansan Lake Park or on the way to Daebudo.
