Suwon course dinner with shell-cord forks and couple-jack: Hado

In short

Hado is a private fine dining restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, serving a basic course and a seasonal course that changes through the year. The writer visited with her fiancé for the 45,000-won-per-person summer basic course — two tarts, squid ink oil and bisque pasta, sous vide chicken breast steak and Earl Grey ice cream — and loved the handmade forks tied with sky blue and pink shell cord, plus the CD player and couple jack at the table. Hado is an easy pick for an anniversary or a first date in Suwon.

Hado's handmade forks tied with sky blue and pink shell cord

At Hado's tables, handmade forks are set out individually tied with shell cord. Once we sat down at our assigned seat, the menu and cutlery were all neatly arranged! The detail of each handmade fork tied with a lovely shell cord was so cute!🎀 One was even sky blue🩵 and the one across was pink🩷 — a sweet little touch clearly meant for couples!👀

Summer basic course, first plate: green pea and sweet shrimp tarts

Hado's summer basic course opens with two finger-food tarts.🧁 The green pea tart had the fresh, clean nuttiness of green pea purée pairing with a thin, crisp tart shell for a really refreshing bite!💚 The sweet shrimp tart burst with the sweetness and umami of chewy sweet shrimp, releasing a subtle ocean fragrance — my taste buds were properly awakened from the very first dish!🩷

Second course: squid ink oil pasta and bisque pasta

For pasta, we tried both the squid ink oil and the bisque!🔍 The squid ink oil pasta had chewy ink noodles paired with a clean oil base, wrapping around every strand for a rich yet light finish!🦑 Hado's signature bisque pasta, made from a sauce simmered from shellfish for a long time, delivered a deep, bold flavor!❣️ The thick bisque sauce soaked in so well that every bite exploded with umami!

The main at Hado: sous vide chicken breast steak

Hado's main dish is a chicken breast steak cooked sous vide. It was such a surprising texture — 'can chicken breast really be this tender?'🥩 Cooked with such care using the sous vide method, there was zero dryness, and the second it hit my mouth it was moist and tender in the most amazing way!❣️ The quinoa and carrot purée on top rounded it all out perfectly, and my fiancé and I kept gasping in delight as we cleaned the plate!🫶🏻

Last dessert: Earl Grey ice cream

Closing out the course, Hado's dessert is Earl Grey ice cream!🍨 The moment a spoonful hit my mouth, a deep, fragrant black tea aroma spread through my mouth with a sweet-bitter finish! The ice cream's smooth texture paired with the crunch and chocolate underneath made for a great finale to the meal!❣️
