Seomyeon tuna restaurant in Busan: belly set for two at Sappuro Tuna

Today I finally went back to a tuna restaurant in Seomyeon I hadn't visited in ages! I first found out about this place because a friend used to work here part-time, and she brought me along saying it was delicious — it was, so I kept coming back after that 🩷 But this time it had actually been two whole years since my last visit!! Let me give you the honest rundown 🤭

Inside Sappuro Tuna: clean interior on a Sunday evening

It's really comfortable and clean inside haha. I went at 5:30 on a Sunday, and people kept walking in right after us.

Booking ahead: the table was set when we arrived

I made a reservation ahead of time! (I booked it 30 minutes before arriving haha lol) Since I reserved in advance, everything was already set up when we got there haha

Sappuro Tuna menu and prices

Since it was just me and my mom, we ordered the Sappuro tuna belly assortment, ₩38,000 per person x 2!

They brought out the broth and wasabi!

Everything was neatly set up and we waited for the tuna.

Complimentary monkfish liver (ankimo) and sweet shrimp

The anglerfish liver (ankimo) and sweet shrimp arrived! (These came free of charge 🤭)

I think this was my first time trying ankimo!!

A staff member kindly explained that it's delicious eaten together with gamtae (dried seaweed), gim (dried laver), sweet shrimp, and ankimo. It was a flavor I'd never had before, but it was so good 💛

Three pieces of sushi per person included

The set we ordered includes 3 pieces of sushi per person, and the sushi here is genuinely amazing... I could eat 20 pieces of just this ;;

It just melts in your mouth. Honestly, just go try it yourself lol.

Tuna belly assortment for two: Maltese bluefin belly

Finally, the tuna arrives!! This was my first time bringing my mom, and she said it's the tastiest tuna she's ever had (glad I brought her! Feeling proud 😊)

They said this place uses only carefully selected Maltese bluefin tuna belly, considered the best among Mediterranean bluefin tuna sold domestically! Paired with wild bigeye tuna belly, known for its rich, savory flavor, this is a place where you can enjoy nothing but generous portions of premium tuna belly haha

At first, I wrapped it up with gim, aged kimchi, and tuna — the tuna just melts in your mouth, melts...

The tuna really does melt away. The middle part is quite fatty, so you can get sick of it if you eat too much, but they say alternating with the outer cuts helps haha

I tried it so many different ways. I completely fell for the gamtae 🤤

Free sushi rice and potato croquettes at Sappuro Tuna

Since my mom and I came wanting to eat with rice, it felt a bit lacking, so when the staff asked if we'd like some sushi rice as a service, I said yes immediately lol

The sushi rice was so unexpectedly delicious... even the rice alone was amazing here ;;

And it all wraps up with a potato croquette! Being handmade probably made it taste even better!! Crispy outside, soft inside — the essence of a good croquette 🤩

Is Sappuro Tuna worth it? Verdict after a third visit

This is a place I come back to whenever I'm craving tuna, and this was already my third visit > < Once again the tuna was fresh and delicious, and my mom and I cleaned our plates completely haha. The staff especially treated us to ankimo, sweet shrimp, and sushi rice on the house, which made the meal even more generous 🤭

The ankimo was soft and savory, melting in your mouth, and the sweet shrimp was sweet and plump too 🩷 My mom tried it and was satisfied enough to say 'this is really good' haha

I like tuna and have been to quite a few places, but this one has good flavor and friendly staff, so I've already visited about three times.... This is the place that comes to mind whenever I want tuna in Seomyeon! That's my review of a delicious meal with my mom 🐟🤍
