Caffeine Focus
Suwon on a fall day too nice to waste! I went to soak up the autumn weather and ended up having a full-on healing session at Caffeine Focus, a bakery café in Haenggung-dong with a one-glance view of the Hwaseong Fortress wall by Changnyongmun Gate ✨
Where to park at Caffeine Focus in Haenggung-dong
For parking at Caffeine Focus, use the resident-priority parking zone outside the store, along the outer edge of the fortress wall.
- Free self-parking until 6pm
- Public parking lot recommended on busy weekends
Sourdough ciabatta baked fresh every morning
This is also known as the go-to sourdough ciabatta spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, since they bake it in-house every single morning 👨🍳
Since they only bake small batches in-house, I heard it can sell out early — but on the day I visited, there were still several kinds of sourdough ciabatta left!

They also sell a sandwich on sourdough ciabatta with jambon, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomato, wild arugula, and basil pesto — good enough to count as a meal 🥪
They also had house-made cardamom granola on sale. Would be so good with yogurt... 🤤
What we ordered: Basque cheesecake and vegan banana muffin
Since I came to a bakery café in Haenggung-dong known for its sourdough ciabatta, I was thinking of trying the ciabatta, but then — wait, they have Basque cheesecake, one of my favorite desserts? 😎 I ordered the vanilla bean Basque cheesecake and decided to also have the vegan banana muffin alongside it!
I was curious about Caffeine Focus's signature drinks — ube cream matcha latte, avocado smoothie, avocado coffee — but honestly, isn't iced americano the best match for dessert...? Being a hopeless iced-americano addict, that's what I ordered haha
2nd floor full, so up to the 3rd-floor fortress-view window
Caffeine Focus, this Hwaseong Fortress-view café, uses all three floors from 1st to 3rd, so you take the stairs up to the 2nd or 3rd floor to find a seat.
When I visited, the 2nd floor was nearly full with too many customers, so this is a photo I took on my way out! The view through the window looks like a framed picture, so lovely 🥹
The view and cozy atmosphere from the 2nd floor were great, but what I really fell for was the fortress view from the 3rd floor❣️
The wide window gives such a sweeping, one-glance view of the Hwaseong Fortress wall — so gorgeous 👏
The terrace with a view of Paldalsan Mountain is another charm point of Caffeine Focus. The gentle breeze felt so refreshing, and I heard the sunset view from here is also stunning. Next time I'll come back for the sunset 🙌
On top of it all, the owner's thoughtful touch of having water and blankets ready on every floor — so many things to fall for at this Hwaseong Fortress-view café 🫶
A cup of coffee with a view like this! A vibe-heavy spot that could spark a spark where there wasn't one — I'd recommend it for a Suwon date course 🫶
How did the cheesecake and muffin taste?
Caffeine Focus's iced americano (₩5,500) had a smooth, nutty taste with no acidity, and I loved it,
and as someone who loves banana desserts, I couldn't just walk past the banana muffin 🍌
Not overly sweet, with a subtle banana aroma and flavor — a charming vegan dessert that paired really well with the coffee 🧁
I already love Basque cheesecake in general, but wow.. this ranks among the best I've had recently 😋
They must have loaded it with vanilla bean, because you could feel little pops of vanilla bean throughout, and the cheese was thick yet soft — I ate every bite happily❗️
There were also clean restrooms on the 1st and 3rd floors, so it was comfortable to spend time at the café.
