Seongsu café for two to share salted bread after a pop-up: Childish

It's honestly a bit embarrassing to keep calling myself "on a diet" at this point... anyway, I'm back with another dessert café review haha (●'◡'●) These days it's not just coffee that makes me happy, but really good dessert. There's a hidden-gem dessert spot in Seongsu — Childish! Let me tell you all about it 🥰💕

Where is Childish? Second floor on Yeonmujang-gil near Seongsu Station

Childish is located near Seongsu Station on Line 2! We were strolling around checking out pop-up stores and before we knew it, we'd arrived!!

Outside there's a big "CHD" sign like this! The café itself is on the second floor.

On the way up we spotted this super cute salted taiyaki character sign hahaha

The interior was really spacious too!

There was so much seating extending toward the back, we could sit and eat comfortably even in busy Seongsu!

Childish menu and prices: salted bread desserts are the main draw

Since we came for dessert, we explored the dessert menu first! There were a lot of desserts using salted bread,

and among them we ordered the egg mayo salted bread (₩5,500) and jambon-beurre salted bread (₩7,500)!

We also ordered the signature mammoth chewy salted taiyaki (₩7,000)! Honestly, I was also curious about the pizza taiyaki and potato taiyaki... but we'll save those for next time ㅠㅠㅠㅠ (spoiler: I really regret not trying them). We also got two Americanos to go with it >.<

The store was full of little decorations like keyrings too! They were high-quality enough that I wanted to grab one for myself haha

They were baking the salted bread right there in the back! There are plenty of cafés that serve salted bread, but one that bakes it in-house?!! Is there really another café like this out there???

How do the egg mayo and jambon-beurre salted bread taste?

The order came out quickly!

We were busy turning it every which way to look at it hahaha isn't the quality just amazing...?

They even thoughtfully gave us a knife, so we split everything in half!

First up, the egg mayo salted bread — yum! It had strawberry jam spread on it, so it was nice and sweet to eat. Combined with the saltiness of the salted bread... it was such a fantastic combination! (Honestly I think this was the best egg mayo OO I've had from any place outside haha)

Next, the jambon-beurre salted bread!

There was this much jambon (ham) packed inside?ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ The jambon wasn't too salty, it was savory and delicious, and it paired so well with the marmalade jam. Jambon itself is a pretty expensive ingredient, and it felt like they used it generously without holding back.

Childish's signature mammoth chewy salted taiyaki

Mammoth chewy salted taiyaki! I'd never heard of that combination of words before, and it turned out to be this beautiful.

The outside was crisply baked and the inside was packed with rice cake, butter, and red bean paste. It was almost too much to fit in one bite!

A heavenly combination for anyone who loves rice cake! And since they bake it fresh in-store, you get to enjoy it warm at its absolute best — that's a huge plus too.

Why Childish is worth a second visit

After trying this, we both shouted that we wanted to try the other taiyaki flavors too!!!! Even though we were super full after two of us ate three desserts, we still found ourselves curious about the other menu items ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ We're definitely coming back to try the other salted taiyaki flavors! Since this café is clearly skilled at desserts overall, I heard the bingsu (shaved ice dessert) is delicious too, and now I'm really curious what that tastes like! If you're visiting Seongsu, I highly recommend Childish! We're already planning our next trip to Seongsu!!!!
