Gyeongju brunch café with no-kids second-floor window seats: Yard

In short

Yard is a brunch café in Bomun-danji, Gyeongju, on the main road beside Gyeongju World. We ordered the English Plate, an iced americano and an iced latte, then ate at a window seat on Yard's no-kids-zone second floor overlooking a field of yellow cosmos. The omelette was soft and the plate was generous enough for two, making Yard an easy meal-and-coffee stop on an autumn trip to Gyeongju.

I'm here to share my review of Yard, the café near Bomun-danji in Gyeongju where I had brunch and got my fill of cosmos flowers.

Where is Café Yard in Gyeongju, and what are its hours?

Yard is a brunch café at 2 Cheongun2-gil, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk, right along the main road by Gyeongju World. It's open 09:00–20:00 (last order 19:30), with brunch served 09:00–15:00 and closing early once ingredients run out. There's a private parking lot too.

It's also famous as a spot for yellow cosmos views! Since it serves coffee, desserts and a full range of brunch dishes, it's a great place to stop when you want a simple meal plus some relaxed café time.

Café Yard has its own parking space, so it's easy to visit by car too. Since most people get around Gyeongju by car, not having to worry about parking was a nice touch.

Bread sells out before lunch, and ordering is by kiosk

Even though I visited before lunchtime, most of Yard's bread was already sold out!! There was no menu board, only the kiosk, so I couldn't grab a photo of the menu. Just grab a seat first and then order.

Fully seated first floor of Café Yard

Seats were almost all full, so it seems like a lot of the bread had already gone out. Feels like an opening-run situation, haha! We ordered the brunch menu's English Plate, along with an iced americano and an iced latte.

If you need water, cutlery, straws or anything else, you can grab them yourself at the self-bar, and there's an air fryer set up if you want to reheat food that's gone cold.

There's also outdoor terrace seating!

Yard's 2nd floor is a no-kids zone, the 1st floor is for families

Yard's second floor operates as a no-kids zone. Since the second floor is no-kids, all the families with kids were gathered downstairs haha. We headed up to the second floor and grabbed a seat there.

Calm interior of Yard's second floor

The second floor has relatively spacious seating, so it seems like a good spot to spend relaxed time with friends or a partner. The interior is clean and calm overall, giving off more of a peaceful, zone-out-and-heal vibe by the window than the noisy tourist-café feel.

The view from Yard's second floor was like a painting. Apparently in spring, people visit Yard a lot for its cherry blossom tree view. From the second floor you can also see Gyeongju World and Gyeongju Expo. And that's not all!

Yellow cosmos in full bloom

It's a bit far off, but you can see the yellow cosmos in full bloom. Apparently you can catch the flowers at their prettiest peak all the way through late October.

I went out to the terrace to quickly snap some view photos, then came back inside to eat 😆 Coffee indoors is nice too, but since the weather was so pleasant and cool, I'd recommend sitting outside during this season.

What comes on Yard's English Plate, and how it tastes

The English Plate is one of Yard's signature brunch dishes. It's a generous spread including an English muffin, ham, omelette, yogurt, salad, fries and bacon.

The portion was bigger than expected, so it worked well as a brunch for two to share. The omelette was genuinely soft and delicious. Truly the definition of brunch...!

After finishing brunch and stepping outside, this view was right there waiting! The fall sky was so clear and pretty. Café Yard in Gyeongju is a great spot for family visits or dates too — grab brunch here and go check out the cosmos, haha.

Based on a visit on September 12. When I visited, the cosmos were blooming beautifully, so I got to fully soak in the atmosphere of a fall trip to Gyeongju. It's also a good photo spot for a Gyeongju trip, and if you're looking for a brunch café in Bomun-danji, I'd recommend Café Yard.
