Chuseok holiday is just a few days away, so everyone probably pushed through a tough week — great job! Friday evening basically feels like the weekend already, so I was really craving late-night snacks.

I headed to Uijeongbu Jeil Market in the evening, partly to browse the market again after a while. With the holiday coming up, there were a lot of customers.

Seeing the bustling crowd made me feel oddly nostalgic, haha.

Worries about market hygiene are all a thing of the past now — there's a place here serving delicious chicken with cleanliness on par with a semiconductor factory, so I decided I could visit with confidence.

Right as you exit the Jeil Market parking lot, Dalgom's dakgangjeong greets you with its smiling sign. It's easily the most modern-looking storefront around, so it caught my eye.

Dalgom's prices: half a chicken from 9,000 won

In front of the Dalgom's storefront, actual sample takeout boxes were on display so you can gauge sizes, and the smallest size for solo eating — half a chicken — was ₩9,000.

For two people, a whole chicken is ₩17,000, and for three, the 1.5-chicken size is ₩24,000 — reasonable considering most fried chicken places these days charge around ₩26,000 for just one whole chicken.

There were also prices listed reflecting discounts from delivery apps like Baedal Teukgeup and Ddangyeoyo, so it was easy to order without confusion, haha.

A colorful waiting space inside the store caught my eye, and thanks to the owner's skilled hands, the wait was only about 5 minutes, so it didn't feel long at all.

I never expected a waiting space given how tight things usually are in a market setting, so I was touched by the thoughtfulness. The chairs were so comfortable I almost hoped the chicken would take longer to come out, haha.

Choosing 3 of Dalgom's 7 flavors: cheese mustard recommended

Dalgom's offers 7 flavors total, and a 1.5-chicken order for three people lets you choose 3 of them. Each flavor comes with a detailed description, so I thought kids who can't handle spice would enjoy the honey-flavored crispy chicken or the Bburinkle flavor.

I like bold, punchy flavors, so I mixed spicy garlic, cheese mustard, and garlic soy. Wow, the cheese mustard though — I really recommend including it. The rich, mellow flavor wraps around your mouth and it's so good.

How clean is the open kitchen at Dalgom's?

Dalgom's has an open kitchen, which really shows how confident the owner is in cleanliness. I couldn't help but take photos. There wasn't a single hint of mess — it actually looked cleaner than my own kitchen at home, which made me trust the food even more.

I could feel the owner's pride, and I think this is the chicken place I'll think of whenever I'm in Uijeongbu from now on. I usually don't order delivery much because I can never verify hygiene conditions. If Dalgom's were near my house, I think I'd order every week, haha.

There were also various drinks prepared inside the store — if you need something fizzy while eating, go for that. But if soda feels a bit much, mate tea or burdock tea are good options too.

How much is 1.5 chickens? Enough for three, with leftovers

From the photos I wasn't sure the 1.5-chicken size would really be enough, but I was surprised by how heavy the box felt the moment I picked it up, haha. Would you believe there was still some left over after three people ate?

The rice cakes weren't the type that harden over time — they stayed soft and chewy, so I kept reaching for more.

The combo of cheese mustard, garlic soy, and spicy garlic turned out to be a great pick!

The complimentary pickled radish was a nice refreshing touch. The friendly owner clearly prioritizes cleanliness and taste above all, and the flavor was consistently good with no rough edges — it's the kind of taste that stays on your mind, so I'm planning to reheat the leftovers tomorrow.

I would definitely visit again!
