Uijeongbu sashimi restaurant set course for three: Suksung Robada-gil

In short

Suksung Robada-gil is an aged sashimi (sukseonghoe) restaurant on Hoguk-ro 1298beon-gil in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Visiting with her mother and younger sister, the writer ordered three of the 30,000 won per person set courses, which arrived in stages: pre-meal porridge, chawanmushi, sweet and sour fish, fried shrimp, a seafood platter, an aged sashimi platter of flounder, sea bream, herring and monkfish liver, and mussel stew to finish. Even with only soft drinks instead of alcohol, Suksung Robada-gil felt as full as a proper course meal and made an easy family dinner.

Where is Suksung Robada-gil in Uijeongbu?

Suksung Robada-gil is located at 39-13 Hogukro-1298beon-gil, 1st floor, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do. This Uijeongbu aged sashimi spot has a really sleek, eye-catching exterior. Outside, they also post the recommended seasonal menu, so you can check what's recommended before going in.

Inside Suksung Robada-gil: seating and table spacing

Inside, Suksung Robada-gil was just as sleek and clean as the outside, and the tables were spaced nicely apart. When we walked in there were only about 5 tables occupied, but by the time we left it was completely full haha — practically Friday-night busy. I guess this being an aged sashimi favorite in Uijeongbu, everyone converges here haha.

Menu and order: the 30,000 won per person set course

This Uijeongbu aged sashimi restaurant had a pretty varied menu. We kept browsing and after some debate, the set meal looked like the best option.

Basic side dishes, including corn cheese

The basics include tot namul (seaweed fusiforme), seaweed, baek kimchi (white kimchi), and they even give you corn cheese! Weirdly, corn cheese at sashimi restaurants always tastes extra good haha, so I scraped the dish clean before leaving.

Basic side dishes: tot namul, seaweed, baek kimchi, and corn cheese

First course: pre-meal porridge

Each person gets their own bowl of porridge, and maybe because of all the sesame oil drizzled on it, the porridge was nutty and clean-tasting — really delicious. Perfect as an appetizer.

Chawanmushi and sweet and sour fish

They said only one chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) comes per table! I tried a bite and it was super smooth and seasoned just right. The sweet and sour fish also had a sauce that was tangy and sweet, and the fish flesh was soft — really good.

Fried shrimp and the seafood platter

The fried food at this Uijeongbu aged sashimi spot... you really have to try it, seriously. It was as crispy as a cracker on the outside and moist inside, delicious even on its own. The seafood platter had scallop sashimi, sea squirt, sea cucumber and abalone, and everything was so fresh there was no fishy smell at all — really tasty. The scallop sashimi in particular... so soft and so good I wanted more, but I held back for the sashimi ahead haha!

What comes on the aged sashimi platter?

The aged sashimi finally arrived!!!! It looked stunning from the moment it hit the table. The types included flounder, sea bream, butterfish, herring, salmon, sea bass, mullet, flounder fin, squid, and monkfish liver — lots of variety, which made it look even better haha. It was also great being able to try so many different kinds for a good value at ₩30,000 per person. Keep in mind that at this Uijeongbu aged sashimi spot, the sashimi lineup can change depending on the catch and store conditions!

The full set course spread for three

It looked so good I couldn't not take a photo of the whole spread. So stunning. By the way, I didn't drink alcohol with the sashimi and had Fanta Grape instead haha — and not just me, my sister and mom also stuck to just drinks.

How did the aged sashimi taste?

Maybe because it was aged, the sashimi was incredibly soft with almost no fishy smell, just melting in my mouth. As soon as we tasted it we were all saying this place is really good. Each type kept its own natural flavor well, with some having a chewy texture and others so soft they melted away. Delicious enough that it felt sad watching the sashimi disappear!!!

Mussel stew to finish the meal

Seems like the stew changes daily! The one we got was mussel stew!! They put in scallops too, which added more depth, and there was a good amount of both scallops and mussels — neither had any fishy taste, just plump and delicious 👍

Stamp card and after-meal candy

Suksung Robada-gil also has a stamp card haha. And next to it there's candy for dessert — even the candy was good haha.
