Hygiene-award dakgangjeong shop in Uijeongbu Jeil Market: Dalgom's

In short

Dalgom's is a dakgangjeong (Korean sweet crispy fried chicken) shop inside Jeil Market in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. Recommended on a Uijeongbu moms' online cafe, the writer took away 1.5 chickens in three flavors — plain fried, garlic soy and sweet crispy — and found Dalgom's spotless after two years in business, with a hygiene award won last year. Watching a robot fry each order in Dalgom's open kitchen made picking chicken for a child feel genuinely reassuring.

MJ here!

My picky eater Pyeongan has zero interest in soy-sauce dakgangjeong sauce mixed with mayo — she's obsessed with chicken-mayo rice bowls now haha. So I went to the place the Uijeongbu mom cafe raves about to pick up some dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken)!

This is Dakgangjeong Dalgom's. It's inside Jeil Market, so I found it with a map, and my first impression was honestly a shock — the place was so clean!

It was so clean I wondered if it had just opened recently, but when I asked the owner, they said they've been running it for about two years. Even so, the interior is kept spotless, which anyone who cares about hygiene would notice right away. Plus, they won a hygiene award last year, which made me trust the place even more >_<

The market parking lot is really well set up haha. Maybe because it was a weekday, there were plenty of open spots.

Once inside, the menu turned out to be more varied than I expected. Since I was eating with family, I ordered 1.5 chickens in three flavors. I went with fried + garlic soy + sweet crispy.

Dalgom's open kitchen: a robot fries every order on the spot

Dakgangjeong Dalgom's doesn't pre-fry and sell — everything is cooked fresh when you order. It's an open kitchen where you can see the whole process, and a robot actually does the frying.

What caught my eye most was the open kitchen where you can watch the cooking happen. The oil looked well maintained, and having the whole process visible put my mind at ease as a customer.

The most surprising thing when I first saw it was the robot frying the chicken haha. I never expected to see a robot frying chicken at a dakgangjeong shop inside a traditional market, but it was pretty fascinating. Since everything is cooked to order and you can watch it happen, the wait wasn't boring at all.

What 1.5 chickens in three flavors looks like at Dalgom's

When you order 1.5 chickens in three flavors at Dakgangjeong Dalgom's, they pack it into three separate sections. Bringing it home, it looked generous just from the visuals alone.

From the left: sweet crispy with its sweet glaze, garlic soy in the middle, and crispy fried on the right! Getting three flavors in one order was great for a family with different tastes. If you have kids, mixing a sauced flavor with the plain fried is a good move too.

The first thing I tried was the fried one. The owner told me it's best eaten hot right away. (So of course I grabbed one on the walk home lol.) Wow... that's exactly why they told me to eat it fresh lol. The outside was crispy, the inside juicy, and it had that distinct savory flavor of freshly fried chicken.

Takeout works fine for dakgangjeong, but I'd really recommend eating the fried one right away!

Sweet crispy and garlic soy: the flavors that still taste good cold

Dalgom's saucy dakgangjeong gets glazed while still hot before packing. Maybe that's why, even after some time had passed at home, the sauce hadn't separated and was still well soaked into the chicken.

The sweet crispy was, true to its name, sweet with a hint of savoriness — familiar but addictive. The garlic soy had its own charm, with a subtle garlic fragrance that made it feel different from a purely sweet dakgangjeong. My family each picked from the three flavors and reactions varied by taste, which made me feel like I'd made a good call ordering three flavors lol.

Why Uijeongbu moms' cafes keep recommending Dalgom's

I went because I got the recommendation from the Uijeongbu mom cafe, and once I visited, I understood why haha. Hygiene, which moms care about most, was so well managed here.

The plain fried is a safe choice for eating with kids, while adults can pick garlic soy or sweet crispy — good for varied tastes. And above all, the owner was incredibly kind :)

Dalgom's dakgangjeong as a family dinner at home

With two adults and one elementary schooler, I thought 1.5 chickens might be too much at first, but once we started with the fried and kept going, we ended up eating quite a lot haha. The fried was especially good crispy while warm, and the sweet crispy and garlic soy kept their sauce flavor well even as they cooled, which made them nice to eat slowly.

If you're looking for a good dakgangjeong spot in Uijeongbu, this could be a solid choice for anyone who cares about hygiene and the cooking process as much as the taste. If you're ever visiting Uijeongbu's Jeil Market, it's a nice stop to combine with grocery shopping and picking up some tasty dakgangjeong! The owner was kind and the shop was so clean that I think I'll drop by again next time I'm at Jeil Market. I tried three flavors this time, so next time I'll have to try something different. 😊 If you're looking for clean, delicious dakgangjeong inside Uijeongbu's Jeil Market, remember Dakgangjeong Dalgom's!
