Solo lunch near Sinchon Station: sundae-guk set and mandu, Pyeongando Sikdang
In short
Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch is a 24-hour sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) restaurant a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 3 of Sinchon Station in Seodaemun, Seoul. On a weekday lunch visit alone, the writer ordered the special sundae-guk set for ₩17,000 and four king mandu (dumplings) for ₩5,000, and was startled by the sheer size of the stone bowl, which came loaded with sundae and pyeonyuk (boiled sliced meat). For a solo diner, the special set alone is plenty for a satisfying meal.

I was looking for somewhere to eat a hearty solo lunch on a weekday and ended up at Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch. It's an easy walk from Sinchon Station and open 24 hours, so it works for lunch, dinner, or even a hangover cure!
How far is it from Sinchon Station?
📍 Location About a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 3 of Sinchon Station, so it's easy to get to ⏰ Hours Open 24 hours daily / no closed days 🚗 Parking No free lot on site — use the paid mechanical parking lot in front of the restaurant

It's also close to Sinchon Severance Hospital! Since waiting times for treatment or tests there can run long, this is a great spot for caregivers to grab a solid meal nearby, or for anyone craving hot soup after finishing an appointment.
A vibe that's comfortable to walk into alone
I visited on a weekday lunchtime and there were quite a few customers, from students to people eating solo. It had that relaxed guk-bap (soup-rice) restaurant atmosphere, so it wasn't awkward at all to walk in alone, and since the food comes out fast, it worked well as a solo lunch spot.

There are also table seats available, so it's good for groups as well as solo diners, and it seemed like a nice place for a casual drink with gamjatang (pork bone stew) or sundae stir-fry in the evening.

The food also comes out quickly, so I'd recommend it for office workers who don't have a lot of time for lunch!

What's on the menu
Looking at the menu, the variety was bigger than I expected. Besides the signature sundae-guk, there were plenty of soup dishes like ppyeo-haejangguk, eolkeun-haejangguk, and seolleongtang, plus dishes good for sharing like gamjatang and sundae stir-fry.

Pyeongando Special Sundae-guk Set, ₩17,000
That day I ordered the Pyeongando Special Sundae-guk Set for ₩17,000 and four king mandu for ₩5,000. I went with the set instead of just the soup because I wanted to try the sundae and pyeonyuk together, and once the food arrived, the portions were way more generous than I expected!

True to its name, the special sundae-guk came in a big stone bowl loaded with plenty of meat and sundae. I was startled by how large the bowl itself was!

Pouring rice into the hot broth made for a hearty meal, and I especially liked that ordering the set meant I got to try sundae and pyeonyuk on top of the soup itself.

Ordering sundae or pyeonyuk separately felt like a lot when I was alone, so it was great being able to get a variety just from the one set menu.

How's the seasoning?
The sundae-guk's seasoning was already spot-on, so it was tasty even without adding extra dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste). I liked that it comes with shrimp salt and dadaegi on the side so you can adjust it to your own taste!

You don't really need to add the king mandu
I also added four king mandu, and they were so big I thought I might burst right there, haha. They were delicious, but if you're dining solo, the sundae-guk set alone is already filling enough — the portion is that generous.

I hadn't tried pyeonyuk much before, but it was chewy and delicious! The sundae-guk itself was so loaded with ingredients that the whole portion was really too much haha. Especially if you go with the special set like I did, you can eat a satisfying meal without bothering to add any side dishes.
To sum up
Overall it's a comfortable place to visit alone, and the portions are generous, so it was a good pick when I wanted a hearty weekday lunch. Being open 24 hours with no time restrictions is also a plus! If you're looking for somewhere to eat solo in Sinchon or want a hot, filling bowl of guk-bap, I'd recommend Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch.
