Where is Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant Chungju Hoam branch, and where do you park?

Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant Chungju Hoam branch sits at 3 Hoamtoseong 4-gil, on the 2nd floor of a commercial building in Hoam-dong, an area with a lot of newly built apartment complexes. There was one reason it was especially easy to find: it's on the 2nd floor above a No Brand store.

The moment we got out of the car and saw the building, my parents said, "Let's grab groceries at No Brand after we eat." We came for meat and got a bonus grocery run — haha.

Building and parking area in front of Hoam-dong Community Center

It's right in front of the Hoam-dong Community Center, so first-timers shouldn't have much trouble finding it. Since we were driving with my parents, parking is something I pay close attention to when picking a restaurant. You can use the building's parking lot, and there's also the community center's parking lot right in front, so there are options.

Inside Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant: the aging fridge and 3 private rooms

The Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant Chungju Hoam branch space was spacious with relatively generous gaps between tables, and I spotted 3 separate private rooms. Walking up to the 2nd floor and into the restaurant, the aged meats hanging right at the entrance caught my eye immediately. They're said to go through 144 hours of aging at 2℃, giving them their signature flavor and texture.

It looked like a good spot for anything from a family meal with parents to a larger gathering or work dinner. Overall the impression was tidy, and besides regular tables there were also seats set up to be comfortable for families.

Table seating comfortable for a family group

When you're dining with your parents, how comfortable the seating is matters just as much as how the meat tastes. On that front, I was quite happy.

Grill on the table before ordering

With so many cuts on offer I paused for a moment, but since I hadn't tried the meat here before, I decided to start with the whole pig set.

What comes with the meal: side dishes plus jjolmyeon

What I liked as much as the meat itself was the basic table setting at Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant Chungju Hoam branch. Side dishes including kimchi and bean sprouts came out along with steamed egg and soybean paste stew, and on top of that, a sweet-and-tangy jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) that woke up the appetite right away.

The chewy noodles coated in tangy sauce were great to eat before the meat was even on the grill, and once the meat was cooked, eating jjolmyeon alongside it helped cut through the richness. The other side dishes also went well as small additions wrapped with lettuce alongside the meat.

Whole-pig 1kg for 66,000 won: comparing the 4 aged cuts

What we ordered was the whole pig 1kg for ₩66,000. Since several cuts come out at once, it was great for trying a bit of everything with my parents.

Thickly sliced pork neck, pork belly, pork jowl, and outer skirt all came out together, and once spread out on one plate, the 1kg really felt like a lot.

Each cut had a different fat-to-lean ratio, so it was more fun to eat than sticking to just one type of meat the whole time. Especially since it was our first visit and we didn't know which cut would suit our taste, the assorted set made it easy to sample around.

Once the grill heated up, I put the thick pork neck on first. Since it was on the thicker side, I fully seared the outside before cutting it, and the inside was really juicy. On top of that, the heat output was great, almost like grilling over charcoal — the heat was amazing!

To me it had a flavor with an extra layer of savoriness at the finish compared to regular pork.

Cross-section of grilled pork belly

Rather than assuming aged meat is automatically special, it was more fun comparing the texture and the fat's savoriness cut by cut. The pork neck, being lean, was clean-tasting, while the pork belly's melting fat brought clear savoriness.

Chewy grilled pork jowl and outer skirt

The pork jowl kept its distinctive chewy texture, and the outer skirt paired soft texture with savoriness nicely.

So rather than sticking to one cut, we went pork neck → pork belly → pork jowl → outer skirt in rotation, and it was delicious all the way through.

Angelica leaf wraps and free refills of soybean paste stew

Personally, what stuck with me most wasn't any single bite but my parents' reaction. They said the angelica leaves smelled so good and wrapped up bite after bite happily. That made me quietly proud.

On top of that, the soybean paste stew comes with unlimited refills! For families like ours looking to take our time eating meat with parents, or a three-generation family meal that includes a young child, the space and menu setup should work well.

Is Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant good with kids? Play room and baby chairs

Families visiting Hanmaeum Meat Restaurant Chungju Hoam branch with kids should also take note of the play room. There's a separate kids' space, plus baby chairs and kids' tableware prepared separately.

Separate play room inside the restaurant

When a three-generation family eats out together, or when you're eating meat with a young child, a facility like this makes more of a difference than you'd think. For families moving around with both parents and kids, the spatial advantage feels even bigger.

One last thing surprised me on the way out: my kid and I are huge soccer fans, and it turns out this place is run by the older brother of soccer player Koo Ja-cheol! I was really surprised and happy about it. In my excitement I mentioned it and even took a commemorative shot of him trimming the meat — haha.
