Green Shrek Galbi and skirt steak, grilled tableside for us — this is Yukmong, a BBQ restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley.
Ever seen meat covered in green sauce?

The unusual visual in the photo made me so curious about the taste that I headed to Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch with Colly Park. Between the tableside grilling service, where staff grill the meat for you from start to finish, and the clean interior, this is a place I want to recommend to anyone looking for a Korean BBQ spot near Seokchon Lake or a group dinner venue. Here's my review of Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch, a Korean BBQ restaurant near Seokchon Lake~

What is the restaurant like inside?

Yukmong sits in the Bangi-dong food alley, close to Jamsil Station and Songpanaru Station.

The space blends warm lighting with a wood-toned interior for an overall clean, calm feel!

We visited on a weekday evening and it was already packed — we might've had to wait if we'd come a little later, haha.

It felt like a good spot for group meals, and since staff grill the meat for you, it seemed like it would work well as a Korean BBQ group dinner venue near Seokchon Lake too.
Menu and side dishes: soy-marinated crab included

They have everything from beef to pork, haha. We were curious about the Shrek Galbi, so we ordered two servings of that plus the skirt steak!

Once we ordered, the side dishes started arriving — radish salad, lettuce and scallion salad, vegetable and mushroom japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and even seasoned crab. A restaurant in Seoul that gives you seasoned crab as a side dish is rare!
Yukmong also has plenty of dipping sauces for the meat — their own ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce), ginger, wasabi, onion sauce, and salt! Instead of just eating the meat plain, it's fun to switch up the side dishes and sauces for different combinations.

What does the green Shrek Galbi sauce taste like?
Shrek Galbi (2 servings, 500g) is ₩49,900 — the star that brought us here today. It looks nothing like typical seasoned galbi. Even the minari (water dropwort) piled on top is just green, green, green...

The plated meat was a visual shock lol, thickly coated in green sauce. The green comes from Yukmong's own special sauce made with matcha, minari, and basil.

Given the unusual color, I expected it to taste unfamiliar too, but once I tried it, the meat was tender under a sweet glaze and genuinely delicious. Thanks to the herbs and seasoning, I didn't get any gamey taste at all. It's on the sweeter side, so it pairs perfectly with the spicy radish salad.

We picked the meat off the bone so thoroughly we didn't leave a scrap behind^^

Whole pork skirt steak: salt first, fried rice after
Whole skirt steak (2 servings, 300g) is ₩38,000. Alongside the Shrek Galbi, we also had the whole skirt steak. Rolled up and plated like a flower, with mushroom and floral garnishes, it looked really pretty.
If the Shrek Galbi's charm was its tenderness and sweetness, the skirt steak's chewy bite was the winning point.

For the first bite, definitely go with salt, no question.

We also piled some onto the fried rice that came out later, and honestly, those two should just get married. If you order the skirt steak, save a bit of the meat to eat with the fried rice, haha.

Tableside grilling service from start to finish
At Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch, staff provide tableside grilling and cook the meat for you the whole way through. Glazed galbi like this takes a lot of attention to grill yourself, so it was great being able to just relax and eat what was grilled for us. It made it easy to chat with Colly Park over dinner, and for a group dinner with lots of people, it's nice that nobody has to keep manning the grill, haha.

Kimchi fried rice with radish salad and a fried egg
The fried radish kimchi fried rice with egg is ₩12,000. The kimchi fried rice is piled high with egg wrapped around it, plus a fried egg served on the side.
It looks spicy, but for my taste it was just mildly spicy — perfect to eat alongside the meat.

Yukmong Hosa takju, the house rice wine
We also ordered the Yukmong Hosa takju (unfiltered rice wine, ₩8,000) to go with the meat. It's served in a kind of fancy, whimsical style lol.
To me it tasted like sweet banana makgeolli. If you like sweeter-style takju, give it a try, haha.

Another delicious meal today :)
How much does dinner for two cost?

- Shrek Galbi (2 servings) ₩49,900
- Whole skirt steak (2 servings) ₩38,000
- Fried radish kimchi fried rice with egg ₩12,000
- Yukmong Hosa takju ₩8,000
- Total ₩107,900
A price range and atmosphere that's just right for a group dinner.
Is Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch worth a visit?
So my conclusion is this! Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch is a great pick as a Korean BBQ restaurant near Seokchon Lake and for group dinners. I came for the curious green meat visuals and left having enjoyed both the tender, sweet Shrek Galbi and the chewy whole skirt steak.
Personally, the meat with onion sauce and the skirt steak piled on fried rice are the combos I remember most. With its clean atmosphere and tableside grilling service, Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch made for an easy, comfortable meal — worth keeping in mind if you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant near Seokchon Lake or a group dinner spot in Bangi-dong.
