The place used to be called "Jeongi Beer" (전기맥주) and is now "Deultong Beer," and it still serves electric-roasted whole chicken along with a variety of other menu items. The garlic scallion whole chicken with garlic sauce and shredded scallions was especially delicious and satisfying. This visit was to Deultong Beer Myeongji International Branch, run together with Jump Café. The name changed from the previous "Jeongi Beer," but you can still enjoy electric-roasted whole chicken here.

You can also order items from the Jump Café menu, so it seemed like a good place to pick from more than just chicken and beer.

It's a good place whether you come as a couple for a light chicken-and-beer session like us, or with a group to share a variety of dishes.

Outdoor terrace or the wide indoor room: where to sit

Deultong Beer Myeongji also has outdoor terrace seating. Since it was the weekend, many people were seated on the terrace. Enjoying beer in the cool outdoor breeze looked like a nice vibe too.

We wanted a comfortable meal, so we sat indoors. The indoor seating was more spacious than expected, and we could sit and enjoy our food at ease.

It was nice being able to choose between the terrace and indoor seating depending on the weather or mood.

Draft beers on tap and what the couple ordered

Once seated, we looked over the menu first. Deultong Beer Myeongji has quite a few types of draft beer, so it took us a moment to decide which one to order.

Even with the same chicken, the beer you pair it with adds a different kind of enjoyment, right? After some thought, we ordered the garlic scallion whole chicken and 2 glasses of Terra draft beer.

Looking at the menu, there was also a whole-roast set where you could enjoy pork and chicken together. If you're visiting with a group, ordering both pork and chicken to share seemed like a great idea.

How the garlic scallion rotisserie chicken tastes with garlic sauce

Garlic scallion whole chicken (마늘파채통구이) is electric-roasted whole chicken piled high with shredded scallions and garlic sauce. After ordering, we didn't wait long before the fried dough snack, salad, and pickles came out as complimentary sides.

We sipped our beer while waiting for the food. Taking a sip of cold Terra draft beer, I really appreciated this relaxed weekend moment.

As we drank and waited, our garlic scallion whole chicken finally arrived! It was piled high with shredded scallions and garlic sauce on top of the electric-roasted whole chicken, and it looked absolutely delicious just to see.

While we were wondering how to eat it, the staff kindly deboned the chicken for us, so we could eat it comfortably right away. Deboning a whole roasted chicken can be a bit of a hassle, so it was great that the staff handled it neatly, leaving us to just enjoy the food.

At first, we tried the chicken with the shredded scallions. The sharp bite of the scallions paired well with the savory roasted chicken, and it was good for eating in a light, clean way too.

Then, dipping the chicken generously into the garlic sauce made the flavor much richer. The distinctive aroma and umami of the garlic blended really well with the chicken, and I kept reaching for more.

Eating the chicken and scallions dipped in garlic sauce, cleansing my palate with pickles in between, and taking a sip of cold beer — it all went together perfectly. Garlic-sauce-dipped chicken, scallions, pickles, and draft beer! It was exactly the menu we needed to enjoy good food and a beer on the weekend.

Receipt review freebie and the plastic gloves

At Deultong Beer Myeongji, apparently you can get cajun potatoes as a free service if you write a receipt review.

However, we were already pretty full after the whole chicken and beer, so we didn't get to take advantage of the receipt review event this time. Next time we visit, I'd like to try the cajun potatoes too.

On our way out, we also noticed vinyl gloves available. They're provided for eating whole roasted chicken by hand. Since the staff had already deboned the chicken so well for us, we didn't need to use them, but it's worth noting they're there for anyone who prefers to eat with their hands.
