Pho restaurant in Myeongji, Busan with appetizer platter: Mibundang

I was craving pho in Myeongji today, so I went to Mibundang Myeongji Branch. What really stuck with me wasn't just the food — it was how kind the owner and staff were.

The exterior on a rainy day

An exterior that stands out even from far away. We visited on a rainy day, and honestly the chilly, rainy atmosphere added a nice bit of mood to the whole thing.

At Mibundang, you order at the kiosk near the entrance before going in. Choose your menu, pay, and a ticket prints out — hand that to a staff member and they'll show you to your seat :)

Is there a wait, and where do you wait?

I'd read there could be a wait, and I was worried about standing around in the rain, but luckily we got seated with no wait at all that day. Since this place is apparently often busy, I noticed they'd thought about people who do have to wait — there's tea set up on one side of the store for waiting guests, so even if there is a line, you can wait comfortably.

Even before going inside, a sign posted at the entrance caught my eye.

This space was created according to the owner's wish to make a place where anyone can eat in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere.

Inside, there was also a notice asking guests to keep their voices down so as not to disturb the people next to them. It wasn't just about keeping the place quiet — you could feel Mibundang's philosophy of wanting to create a space where anyone could eat comfortably.

Counter seating that works for solo diners

Once inside, it really was as quiet and calm as the sign promised. Unlike a typical pho restaurant, Mibundang has bar-style seating that reminds you of a famous Japanese ramen shop's interior. It felt like a place where everyone could focus comfortably on their own meal, which made me think it'd be great for solo dining too.

Table setup and the open kitchen

Once seated, you get water — like barley tea — along with side dishes to go with your pho. Mibundang Myeongji Branch also has an open kitchen layout, so we naturally got to watch the pho being made while we ate. Since the kitchen isn't hidden and you can see the cooking process right in front of you, it made me trust the food even more, personally. Getting to watch what I was eating being carefully prepared right before my eyes felt like another one of Mibundang's strengths ✨

What we ordered: brisket pho, brisket-and-shank pho and the 8-piece appetizer platter

That day we ordered chadolbagi pho, chadol-yangji pho, and the fried appetizer platter (8 pieces). With pho plus a side dish, the table filled up quite generously 🤤

Free noodle and bean sprout refills: how much food do you get?

The chadolbagi pho and chadol-yangji pho arrived at almost the same time. Even before eating, my mouth was watering .. 😳 And here's one thing I loved about Mibundang! Noodles and bean sprouts come with free refills. The portions are already pretty generous, but if you feel like you need more while eating, you can add more noodles and bean sprouts, so you can really eat your fill.

Starting with the chadolbagi pho .. the warm broth was loaded with plenty of thinly sliced brisket, and eating the noodles and meat together was really filling. It looked like a big portion from the moment it arrived, and it really was — not just visually.

Next, the chadol-yangji pho! At first the combination of brisket and beef shank sounded unfamiliar and I wasn't sure about it, but after tasting it my opinion completely changed. Getting to enjoy both brisket and beef shank together made it the perfect menu for meat lovers like us. The broth was clean and not heavy at all, so I think pho lovers would enjoy it without any complaints.

Adding spicy sauce and onion to the broth

The chadol-yangji pho is delicious as is, but I wanted it a bit spicier, so I added a little spicy sauce. I also added plenty of the onion that came with it. With the spicy sauce added, it became rich and spicy while still pairing well with the clean pho broth. Add in the crunchy texture of the onion, and it became even more layered in flavor. If you like a bit of spice like I do, I'd definitely recommend adding a little spicy sauce! 🌶️

Is the 8-piece appetizer platter worth ordering too?

Since pho alone felt like it wasn't quite enough, we ordered the fried appetizer platter (8 pieces)! Being able to taste several different side dishes at once made it a great pairing with the pho.

Between spoonfuls of warm pho and bites of the side dishes, the food disappeared before we knew it. If you're planning to order pho here, I'd recommend getting the crispy fried appetizer platter alongside it.
