Where is Shashlik Masan Branch and when is it open?

Shashlik Masan Branch, a great Masan spot for Western-style grilled fare, is on the 2nd floor at 7 Deokdongnam 1-gil, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam. It's open Wed–Mon 11:00–22:00 and closed every Tuesday. There's a private parking lot right next to the restaurant, and both reservations and pets are welcome.

I visited Shashlik Masan Branch while traveling around Changwon, craving some good meat. It's a place where you grill meat and vegetables over charcoal, so it felt different from a typical Korean barbecue joint — the atmosphere was nice and the menu varied enough to work well for a family or group visit.

Is parking easy at Shashlik Masan Branch?

There's a parking lot right next to the restaurant, and it's quite spacious with plenty of spots, so I didn't have to worry about parking even though I drove.

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, so I headed upstairs — and the view of Deokdong village in Changwon spread out before me, much nicer than I expected. Being able to take in a view like that while eating meat made the whole dining atmosphere even better.

There's also a separate outdoor space, and it turns out there's an area where they can light a fire. On weekday evenings or weekend afternoons, they apparently do campfires too. As this month's special event, you can even roast marshmallows there, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit :)

Stepping inside, the warm, cozy wood-tone interior immediately catches your eye.

There's a variety of tables, from 4-seaters to larger group seating, so it seemed like a good fit for family meals or group gatherings.

Looking at the menu, there really was a huge variety of shashlik. You can grill pork belly, chicken thigh, house-made sausage, lamb and more over charcoal, and there were also items like Korean beef striploin steak, T-bone steak, and thick-cut rib steak. On top of that, there was a wide range of sides — truffle fries, olive ciabatta, fried rice, salad — so there was plenty to choose from depending on what you're in the mood for.

The special shashlik came out piled generously on one plate with veal skirt, pork tenderloin, chicken thigh and assorted vegetables — it looked amazing before we even took a bite 🤤💛

The moment it arrived, the charcoal smell was everywhere, and maybe because the meat was cooked just right, the texture was really tender. Grilling vegetables like broccoli, mushrooms and bell peppers alongside the meat made for a much better combination than just eating meat alone.

There were four sauces, so it was fun picking and choosing. With a spicy sauce, a sweet sauce, mild mustard, and garlic all on offer, the same meat tasted a bit different depending on the sauce. Dipping both meat and vegetables together, I kept reaching back for more!

For anyone looking for a great pet-friendly restaurant in Masan, this is worth keeping in mind, and if you like charcoal-grilled meat, the range of menu options here is a plus. If you're after a pet-friendly Masan restaurant that also has good atmosphere, this seemed like a solid choice.

Truffle fries and olive ciabatta at Shashlik Masan Branch

We also tried the truffle fries and olive ciabatta we ordered as sides, and they went together better than I expected.

The fries had a subtle truffle aroma that worked well between bites of meat, and the ciabatta came with blueberry jam and yogurt to spread on it, with a wonderfully chewy texture. Eating it alongside the meat gave it a whole different flavor, so we got to enjoy a nice variety even among the sides.
