Sunday lunch with kids in Sejong: octopus shrimp bowl, Bapkkot Hansang
In short
Bapkkot Hansang is a Korean restaurant on Doum8-ro in Sejong, near Sejong Lake Park and Sejong Arboretum, and a popular spot for family meals. A family of four arrived just after noon on a Sunday and ordered two octopus shrimp rice bowls (15,000 won each), a pork japchae rice bowl, and a beef brisket japchae rice bowl, all generously topped with fresh vegetables and finished to the last bite. Sunday lunch waits at Bapkkot Hansang are long, so booking through Naver is the safer choice.

Why we chose Bapkkot Hansang for a Sunday family outing near Sejong Lake Park
It was a rare quiet Sunday — the kids were all home and the weather was great, so it felt like a waste to stay in. After lounging around thinking about what to do, my husband and I took the kids out to Bapkkot Hansang, a restaurant near Sejong Lake Park. The weather was perfect for biking or walking there, but since we were short on time, we just drove.

Opening hours 11:00–21:00, break time 15:00–17:00. Here's the detailed info.

How long is the Sunday lunch wait, and can you reserve?
This Sejong Lake Park restaurant sees an enormous wait on Sundays. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend booking ahead through Naver reservation. A lot of people bring their parents here too.

We got there just after noon, and sure enough, being lunchtime, every table in the place was full and we had to wait. Luckily, our family of four managed to get a four-seat table.

The clean walls give Bapkkot Hansang's interior a sleek, calm atmosphere.

Origin labeling is properly displayed too — domestic pork for the tteokgalbi, domestic rice, domestic kimchi.

Bapkkot Hansang menu and prices, and the rice bowls we ordered
Here's the menu at this Sejong Lake Park restaurant.
- Bapkkot Special Set (for two) – ₩30,000
- Bapkkot Selection – ₩25,000
- Herbal Boiled Pork Rice Bowl – ₩15,000
- Minari Tteokgalbi Rice Bowl – soy sauce or gochujang flavor
Our family ordered two octopus shrimp rice bowls, a pork japchae rice bowl, and a chadol (beef brisket) japchae rice bowl.

Banchan, soup, and noodles at Bapkkot Hansang
We sat down early, but since it was such a busy time, the banchan (side dishes) came out little by little. True to its name — bapkkot hansang meaning 'a full table of rice and flowers' — the main dish and side dishes come as one full spread. Honestly, I actually prefer it when the dishes arrive separately, one at a time.

We got a soup similar to miso soup, and noodles drizzled with dressing, like buckwheat noodles.

The kids' pick: octopus shrimp rice bowl, 15,000 won
After a short wait, the main dishes arrived. The kids' favorite, the octopus shrimp rice bowl, came out. Even at a glance, it was surprising how generously it was piled with chunky octopus, shrimp, carrots, vegetables, and shredded egg garnish.

Both kids ordered the octopus shrimp rice bowl. The cucumber salad side was fresh and tasty. The kimchi was just the right level of fermentation, and the stir-fried nuts were a satisfying little snack while waiting for the main dish.

There's rice at the very bottom with an enormous amount of toppings on top. It was a bit much for the kids to mix themselves, so my husband mixed it for them.

Every single ingredient still had its freshness intact.

Pork japchae bowl vs. beef brisket japchae bowl
My husband loves a good japchae (stir-fried glass noodle) rice bowl. His pork japchae rice bowl arrived — freshly stir-fried, with the japchae glistening with sheen.

The kids said it was so good they insisted I try some too. The shrimp were so chunky it was hard to fit one in a single bite.

I ordered the chadol (beef brisket) japchae rice bowl. It looks similar to the pork version, but the chadol version is a touch oilier.

Is Bapkkot Hansang good for kids and grandparents?
We got to spend a happy weekend with good food at this Sejong Lake Park restaurant with the kids. Nearby, there was even a family celebrating a birthday for their parents.

The rice bowls were so generous in portion that we all ended up completely full.

Usually rice bowls get stir-fried with vegetables that are past their prime, but Bapkkot Hansang's bowls were genuinely fresh.

Even though we were full, we cleaned every bowl.
