Seoul fish market sashimi shop: medium premium platter, Ttangkkeut

In short

Ttangkkeut Maeul is a sashimi takeout shop just inside south gate 1 of Noryangjin Fisheries Market in Dongjak, Seoul. On the way to the Seoul International Fireworks Festival in Yeouido, the writer pre-ordered and picked up a medium premium assorted sashimi platter; two ice packs sat flush against the tray and kept it cold for hours, and the thick-cut salmon, flounder, red seabream and mackerel were plenty for two. For a Han River picnic, pre-ordering pickup at Ttangkkeut Maeul is the easy way to carry sashimi.

Two weekends ago! My husband and I went to see the Yeouido Seoul International Fireworks Festival~ We left in the afternoon and had already eaten lunch, but while figuring out what to eat for dinner and during the wait, we decided to swing by Noryangjin and pick up some sashimi haha 😆

Last year we watched the fireworks from Noryangjin, but this year, to see them up close....! Haha, so we ended up just picking up food to go instead lol

Starting the review now!!

Where is Ttangkkeut Maeul? Right inside south gate 1 at Noryangjin Fisheries Market

With so many stalls packed into the fish market, I had trouble deciding where to go, so I picked Ttangkkeut Maeul (땅끝마을) since it consistently had lots of customers and solid reviews! I knew the market would be crowded on the day of the fireworks festival, so to avoid waiting on-site, I placed a takeout reservation ahead of time and arrived at the scheduled hour 😊 Walk in through south gate 1 and the sign is right there, easy to find.

Stacked layers of sashimi boxes packed for reservation customers

On one side of the counter, boxes of sashimi already packed for reservation customers were stacked layer upon layer — quite a sight!

Lots of different fish species too

Personally, when picking a sashimi restaurant, the thing I care about most is that it's busy with a fast turnover! Live fish shouldn't sit too long in the tank — they need to be sold quickly to stay fresh~! Watching the sashimi get sliced nonstop because of the high order volume naturally built my trust in the freshness before I'd even taken a bite.

Since I'd already made a reservation, the moment I gave my name I got the packed box without any wait — super convenient!

Ttangkkeut Maeul menu and prices: regular platter vs premium sashimi

Ttangkkeut Maeul's assorted sashimi menu and price board

There's a regular assorted platter and a premium one! The premium version seems to include somewhat better cuts. There's also flounder, rockfish, red seabream, and other single-fish options~!

They even have sea urchin and croaker haha

Pickup day: how Ttangkkeut Maeul packs sashimi with two ice packs

Picked-up Ttangkkeut Maeul sashimi takeout box

This is how it was packed!! Pretty heavy haha

Two ice packs pressed against the sashimi container

Turns out that weight was from the ice packs lol There were two of them, pressed right up against the sashimi container. Thanks to that, even hours after pickup, it was still as cold as if it had just come out of the fridge!

Individually packed soy sauce, chogochujang, fresh wasabi, and ssamjang

The soy sauce, chogochujang (vinegar-chili sauce), fresh wasabi, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) — essentials for eating outdoors — were all neatly individually packed too, so there was nothing extra to bring and we could dig in right away!

What's in the medium premium sashimi platter, and how thick are the slices?

Opened lid of the medium premium assorted sashimi platter

We ordered the medium premium assorted platter 😆 Opening the lid, there was a good, hefty amount, plenty for two people!

The lineup was salmon, flounder, red seabream, and mackerel sashimi — popular fish you keep reaching for, and a satisfying combo!

Han River sashimi picnic spread with non-alcoholic beer

Paired with a cold non-alcoholic beer we'd brought from home, it was a perfect match with the cool autumn breeze!! Ideal for a Han River sashimi picnic~~

Assorted sashimi and sides laid out on a picnic mat outdoors

Above all, what satisfied me most was the thickness of the slices! Instead of spreading it thin to make the portion look bigger, each piece was cut thick and generous, giving it real chew!

Cross-section showing the thickness of the sashimi slices

Because the slices were so thick, just a few pieces filled your mouth completely~ haha. Honestly, it was quite a lot for two people and we got pretty full eating it, but it felt too wasteful to leave good sashimi behind, so my husband and I finished every last piece!! (We were too full to touch the snacks we'd packed... haha)

Yeouido fireworks timing and how the Han River sashimi picnic ended

After eating a hearty meal, cleaning up, and making a bathroom run, the timing worked out perfectly — the fireworks festival kicked off right then!

For anyone planning a Han River picnic, an outdoor event, or even eating at home, I'd recommend reserving ahead and picking up from Ttangkkeut Maeul at Noryangjin Fisheries Market — fast turnover means fresh sashimi, and the packing is thorough!! I'll share the fireworks festival photos and my full review of the night sky in the next post 😉❤️
