From tteokbokki to pasta: why we switched to Hôtel de Couture in Yeonnam-dong
It had been like four months since I saw Sujin, and we originally planned to get tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) again, but we both had dinner plans fall through because of the Haidilao thing lol lol lol lol. We were like, why didn't we tell each other sooner... Sujin was near Konkuk Univ, I was in Seocho lol.
So we quickly changed course from tteokbokki and ended up at this Yeonnam-dong pasta spot, Hôtel de Couture. Get off at Donggyo-dong intersection or Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3 🎶! Get off, enjoy a bit of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park walk, listen to some busking, and before you know it — you've arrived.

I figured the floor-to-ceiling windows would let in nice light while eating, and the weather that day was just so good ㅠ. When the light comes in, your eyes naturally soften ~ great for a blind date ^.^ Students would like it too since the prices are reasonable.

Hôtel de Couture is on the 1.5th floor, so you climb the stairs — step step step.
Climb half a flight and a cute little door appears. There was a wait when we went, and there's no separate CatchTable or TableLink system — you just wait on the stairs. But the stairs and chairs for waiting are pretty cramped, so don't bring heavy bags. Consider yourself warned, seriously.
That's how it is apparently. There were way, way more foreign customers than I expected. Both the group ahead of us and behind us in line were foreign visitors, and once we got seated, about half the restaurant was foreigners.
Look at that, you know the thing. The dishware was clean, no water stains! We ordered a Coke but I don't have a photo of it, sorry~~

Jambon truffle cream risotto: chewy brown rice with truffle
The jambon truffle cream risotto here in Yeonnam-dong isn't overdone — just the right amount of delicious. I especially loved the crunchy bite ~ the creaminess was good too. There was a lot of jambon layered throughout. The cherry tomatoes paired really well with it!! 🍅
Mortadella lemon butter pasta: the sour-and-salty balance
The Yeonnam-dong pasta star here — mortadella lemon butter pasta!!! 💛💛💛💛 I love lemon butter pasta, and this one has a nice sour-salty balance. I do wish it were a touch more sour!!! Not sure if the saltiness is from chicken stock? The garlic cuts through any heaviness really well. Genuinely delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the oiliness was top notch 🤤
Honey jambon cream French toast: the cream runs a little thin
Yeonnam-dong French toast 🍮🍮 the honey jambon cream French toast. Fluffy, soft, delicious. The arugula and cheese pair so well together 🥹. The cream on the French toast was a bit watery, so I'm curious if they'd make it thicker if you asked ㅇㅅㅇ)a
Took this shot right after one table cleared and before the next one filled in. Good thing I did — it got filled with customers immediately after!!!
Three dishes for two was too much — next time, one each
With plenty of staff on hand, the food at this Yeonnam-dong pasta favorite came out fast. Next time I want to come back and try the house steak and the carrot duck aglio olio. Definitely coming back to try those!
Sujin and I were genuinely hungry and thought we could finish all three dishes, but while we polished off the lemon butter pasta, we left a bit of the bread and risotto. I guess ordering by headcount really is the way to avoid leftovers~!!
By the way, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure all the staff were guys ㅇㅇ. Yep, that checks out. And yeah, this place is already a hit spot... the wait isn't too long, but customers keep streaming in!!!!! Wonder when we'll come back next ~🎶 Thanks for the meal!
