Weekend lunch ramen for a couple in Eunpyeong, Seoul: Oreno Ramen

A restaurant recommendation in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul: tori paitan and karai paitan ramen. Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a place I stop by often while walking along Bulgwangcheon. I don't usually go out of my way for ramen, but this one just really hits my taste, so I end up going back a lot! This weekend too, we walked along Bulgwangcheon and had lunch here haha.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong's hours and break time

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is open daily from 11:00 to 20:30. Break time is 14:30 - 17:00, and last order is at 20:00.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong sits right along the Bulgwangcheon stream, which is such a great location. The whole front is glass, so you can see the entire interior from outside! And since it's an open kitchen, the whole place feels even cleaner.

There are chairs set up out front for waiting. The day we visited there was no wait, so we went straight in.

Dachi bar seats and 4-person tables inside

There are both dachi bar seats and table seats. The bar seats looked like a comfortable spot for eating solo. There are about 4 tables for 4 people, and we sat at a table.

I loved that there's a coat hanger to hang up your jacket before eating, and they've even thoughtfully set out hair ties and aprons. From the bar seats you can often watch them cook, and the kitchen looked really well kept too!

On the table there's ice water, cups, and radish pickles, and in the drawer underneath there are wet wipes, tissues, and utensils.

Free refills on noodles, broth, rice, and kimchi

On top of that, Oreno Ramen offers free refills on noodles, broth, rice, and kimchi. You can eat a full, satisfying meal without ever running short, which seems to make it especially popular with people who want to eat a hearty meal haha.

You order through the kiosk right at the entrance. The Oreno Ramen menu is simply two ramens! Tori paitan ramen (mild) and karai paitan ramen (spicy). You can also add toppings like chashu, egg, and cilantro to taste. Drinks are simple too — cola, beer, and highball.

A sip of cola! They gave us an iced cup, so cool and refreshing haha. We took some radish pickles and asked for kimchi. Both ramens came out at the same time — the tori paitan I ordered, and the karai paitan my husband ordered.

How the tori paitan ramen tastes

I always order tori paitan. I actually like spicy food, but at Oreno Ramen I think the tori is the tastier one... though my husband always gets karai, so I guess it's just personal preference~

Oreno Ramen's base is a rich chicken broth. The soup is so rich you might find it a little salty, but I like my food with some seasoning, so it suits my taste really, really well haha. The chicken broth is savory and deep, and even though the soup is heavy, it never feels heavy-handed or dull.

The rich broth soaks into the noodles beautifully, and the noodle texture is great too!

And the truly delicious egg 🥚 The soft-boiled egg is seasoned with a lovely sweetness — it's genuinely delicious!!

How spicy is the karai paitan ramen?

Karai paitan ramen is the basic paitan broth with a spicy sauce added, but it's not so much hot as it is savory-spicy. It's refreshing enough to be great as a hangover cure. My husband even added a bowl of rice — he said mixing it into the soup was delicious haha. He kept eating more of my noodles too, then the rice on top... he said this particular day he just ate especially well lol.

Final thoughts

We had a hearty ramen meal again this day before heading out for our walk.
