Mapo duck restaurant with hanok terrace, set for two: Gongjung Dodeok
In short
Gongjung Dodeok is a duck restaurant on Baekbeom-ro 20-gil in Mapo, Seoul, with hanok-style outdoor terrace seating near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail. On the terrace the writer ordered the Gongjung marinated duck (jumulleok) set for two (66,000 won) and the cheese potato pancake (24,000 won), eating the seasoned duck with perilla leaves, pickled radish wraps and sauce, then a boneless duck potato stew in a broth thick with ground perilla seed. Terrace seats at Gongjung Dodeok can't be reserved and have no burners, so only the marinated duck set or single dishes are available outside — worth knowing before you go.

A Gongdeok favorite duck restaurant enjoyed in a hanok-style outdoor seating area
Where Gongjung Dodeok is and when it opens
Gongjung Dodeok is a duck restaurant at 28 Baekbeom-ro 20-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, between the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail and Daeheung Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:30 with last order at 21:30, the restroom is inside, and there's no on-site parking, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot.
I recently saw Gongjung Dodeok on a fellow blogger's post, and it had that hanok atmosphere I love, plus outdoor seating!

I thought duck would be perfect here, so I went — and both the food and the atmosphere were satisfying, as expected. If you're someone who loves an outdoor dining vibe like me, I think you'll like this one. Here's my honest review of Gongjung Dodeok : )
Gongjung Dodeok terrace: booking and ordering rules
Gongjung Dodeok's outdoor seats can't be reserved in advance, and Catch Table or Naver Reservation only cover indoor seating. Since there's no burner outdoors, only the marinated duck set or single marinated duck — served already cooked — can be ordered there.

- ✔ Reservations: Catch Table / Naver Reservation available → indoor seats only
- ✔ Outdoor seating: no advance reservation → available only if seats are free on the day of your visit
- ✔ What you can order for duck outdoors: outdoor seats have no burner, so food comes already cooked → only the marinated duck set or single marinated duck, no half-and-half, grilled, or piled options
- ✔ Tip for ordering extra noodles/rice outdoors: since these also come pre-cooked, order any extras you want along with your first order!
Hanok terrace by the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, plus indoor seats
Arriving at Gongjung Dodeok, the first thing you see is the wide outdoor seating area! The sign and flags were visible from a distance, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit.

The overall exterior has that hanok feel, and with the lighting added, it felt even better at night. The open space in front of the restaurant especially stood out — it felt more open than the usual cramped BBQ joint. The outdoor seating was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to visit 🤍
Besides outdoor seating, there are tables indoors too. The hanok atmosphere from outside carries naturally into the interior, with wood finishes, paintings on the walls, and lighting all coming together for an overall old-fashioned mood.
The tables indoors are spaced fairly generously, so if outdoor seating feels like too much or the weather isn't great, eating inside looked comfortable too. Above all, Gongjung Dodeok clearly has its own vibe, different from the typical BBQ restaurant you see these days!
The restroom is inside! They also had baby chairs ready : )
Gongjung Dodeok menu and the weekday lunch tray
Gongjung Dodeok's signature dish is duck, and on weekdays they also sell a separate lunch set menu. There's quite a variety — white rice hot pot, gondre (dried wild greens) with shiitake mushroom, smoked duck with minari (water dropwort), octopus and abalone hot pot — so it looks like a good spot for lunch too.

Check the photo above for the menu and prices!

Gongjung Dodeok's signature dish really is duck!

There are various duck dishes like marinated duck, grilled duck, and duck piled high with minari, plus set menus for two or three to four people so you can try several things at once. There's also plenty to pair it with — kimchi pancake, shrimp and minari pancake, beef tartare, and extras like fried rice and rice balls : )

How ordering works
Ordering works differently indoors versus outdoors!
- ✔ Indoors: order via the QR code at your table
- ✔ Outdoors: order directly with staff
Since we were seated outdoors, we ordered directly with staff.
🍽️ What we ordered at Gongjung Dodeok
- Gongjung marinated duck set for two: marinated duck + Gongjung Dodeok boneless duck potato stew (₩66,000)
- Cheese potato pancake (₩24,000)
We sat at an outdoor table. Each table already had spoons, chopsticks, and tissues set out!
Basic side dishes came out — perilla leaves, green onion kimchi, radish wraps — along with a dipping sauce to go with the duck. The side dish lineup was clean and simple, nice to pair one at a time with the duck : ) Here's the overall table setup!
Gongjung marinated duck set for two, 66,000 won
The Gongjung marinated duck set for two (₩66,000) comes with marinated duck and Gongjung Dodeok's boneless duck potato stew. Since it's on the outdoor-friendly menu, it arrives already cooked.

Here's the Gongjung marinated duck set for two, made up of marinated duck and Gongjung Dodeok's boneless duck potato stew!

Laid out across the table, it was more filling and delicious than I expected! Let me walk through each dish below : )
First up was the marinated duck! The duck came nicely coated in sauce, sitting on a generous bed of chives underneath. Duck and chives are always a great combination, so as soon as I saw it I knew it'd be good together 🤍

Then I thought about how to combine it with the sides that came alongside!
First I tried the duck with just the chives, nothing else. The marinade had soaked well into the duck, so it was plenty tasty even eaten plain. Dipped in the sauce, it's just as good ღ

This time I put the duck on perilla leaf and radish wrap with sauce added! My boyfriend and I love wrapping our food normally, so personally this combination was more my style ෆ The perilla aroma plus the tangy radish wrap went really well with the marinated duck : )

Overall, the marinade soaked well into the duck, and it wasn't harshly spicy but rather deep and savory — easy to enjoy. It's tasty just with chives, but personally the perilla leaf + radish wrap + sauce combo is my favorite ❤️ If you love wraps, definitely try it this way : )
What does the boneless duck potato stew in the set taste like?
Gongjung Dodeok's boneless duck potato stew is the soup dish included in the marinated duck set, made with boneless duck so it's easy to eat. Perilla powder was piled generously on top of the broth, and as soon as it arrived, the nutty look and smell were amazing!

Next up is the boneless duck potato stew included in the Gongjung marinated duck set! Above all, since it's made with boneless duck, it's easy to eat.

For anyone who likes to drink, having a hot soup dish like this that doubles as both a drinking companion and a hangover cure is just so good!?💛

There was plenty of boneless duck inside too! Personally, out of everything we ate that day, this boneless duck potato stew was my favorite. The rich broth loaded with perilla powder practically calls for a drink ..ღ
Eating only duck can get a bit repetitive, but having a soup dish to eat alongside it in between made the combination great! Eating it, I understood why they paired marinated duck with the potato stew in a set 🤍
Cheese potato pancake, 24,000 won
Gongjung Dodeok's cheese potato pancake is ₩24,000, a thinly fried potato pancake piled with cheese and corn. It comes with a dipping sauce too.

And our last dish, the cheese potato pancake! It looked delicious from the start .. ❤️ It's nutty even eaten plain, and dipped in the sauce it's a totally different flavor, so it's nice to alternate between the two!
The crispy edges combined with the stretchy cheese were especially great .. ෆ

From the duck to the potato stew to the potato pancake, everything was delicious! Especially sitting outdoors on a cool day, it all tasted even better than usual ෆ Isn't spending time with someone you love, eating good food outdoors, one of life's simple but biggest joys? 𓂃𓈒𓏸 ♡
Who is Gongjung Dodeok a good fit for?

- ✔ A unique duck restaurant with hanok charm
- ✔ Great outdoor seating vibe near Gyeongui Line Forest Trail
- ✔ A good spot for a date with a drink
- ✔ Also has weekday lunch hot pot rice sets
Thanks to a fellow blogger's post, I discovered this great atmospheric spot, Gongjung Dodeok! Honestly, I don't go to the Daeheung or Gongdeok area often, so I didn't really know what was good there — but after this visit, I realized there was a place like this haha
From the duck to the potato stew to the potato pancake, the food was great, and above all, the atmosphere of eating outdoors was so good ෆ Next time I have plans with friends around Daeheung or Gongdeok, this is a place I'd want to visit again 〰︎ ◡̈ ꕤ
