Guui Station café: golden citrus tea and tiramisu at Center Coffee

In short

Center Coffee Guui East Pole is a high-ceilinged specialty café on floor B1 of NC East Pole by Guui Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. With a cold coming on, the writer ordered a hot golden citrus tea (hwanggeumhyang), and since pavlova was sold out, the staff recommended the original tiramisu, which turned out to be the most memorable item of the day. The iced Americano led with acidity and finished nutty, making the tiramisu the thing to order at Center Coffee Guui East Pole.

First photo from the visit to Center Coffee Guui East Pole

My throat had been scratchy all week and a proper cold finally hit me ㅠㅠ Still, I had something to do at East Pole, so my boyfriend and I went along and decided to warm up with a hot drink while we were there. That's how we ended up at Center Coffee Guui East Pole, on B1 of East Pole in Guui. We had coffee and dessert too, so if you're looking for a café/dessert spot near Guui Station, this review might help :)

What I really wanted was the pavlova, but of all days, it wasn't orderable that day ㅠㅠ So instead I picked the original tiramisu... and it ended up being the most memorable menu item of the whole visit haha. Let me go through everything one by one :)

Inside Center Coffee Guui East Pole: high ceilings, open space

High-ceilinged, open interior of Center Coffee Guui East Pole

The moment we walked in, the space felt pretty open and breezy. Maybe because of the high ceilings, we never felt cramped while sitting there.

Café seating with wood-toned furniture mixed in

Wood-toned furniture was mixed in just enough to give it a clean but warm atmosphere. The tables had good spacing, and there were separate seating areas for bigger groups too.

If you're looking for a good café inside East Pole near Guui, this kind of interior vibe is worth factoring in too. It was a comfortable space to sit and rest with a coffee after running errands, like we did :)

Center Coffee's menu and its one bean, Icebreaker

Kiosk ordering area in front of the counter

We ordered at the kiosk in front of the counter. When I asked staff about the beans, they said there was only one option, Icebreaker. So we ordered the Americano with Icebreaker beans. Here's what we picked!

  • Iced Americano ₩5,400
  • Hot golden nectarine tea ₩6,500
  • Original tiramisu ₩8,500

Those were our three choices.

Looking around the store, they also had beans and drip bags for sale separately.

Coffee and tiramisu served together on a wooden tray

After the buzzer went off, everything came out together on a wooden tray! With the coffee, hot tea, and tiramisu all laid out, we came in for a quick rest and ended up having a proper café hangout haha!

Iced Americano: acidity first, nutty finish

Iced Americano made with Icebreaker beans

The iced Americano at Center Coffee Guui East Pole was ₩5,400, made with the single Icebreaker bean. On the first sip, there was a light acidity that brushed past. But it didn't linger long — as it went down, a nutty flavor came through.

Neither of us usually prefers coffee with strong acidity, but this level wasn't too much for us. If you're on the hunt for good coffee in Gwangjin and wondering about acidity levels, from what we tasted, it was a light touch upfront that gave way to a nutty finish.

Hot golden citrus tea (hwanggeumhyang) for a cold

A hot cup of golden nectarine tea

Since I had a cold coming on, I wanted something warm, so I picked the golden nectarine tea (₩6,500) at Center Coffee Guui East Pole. As soon as I got the cup, the aroma hit me before I even took a sip.

On the first sip, it tasted to me like a sweet-tart fruit tea, somewhere between lemon and yuzu. The tartness didn't overpower everything — it blended in nicely overall, and it wasn't overly sweet either. Since my throat was scratchy that day, being able to drink it warm was a nice bonus for me haha.

Original tiramisu, ordered when pavlova was unavailable

Original tiramisu chosen on staff recommendation

Honestly, the pavlova was what I really wanted to try. But of all days, it wasn't orderable ㅠㅠ While I was deciding what to get instead, the staff recommended the original tiramisu (₩8,500), so I went with that. It wasn't the dessert I originally had in mind, but in the end, tiramisu turned out to be the most memorable item from this Guui Station café/dessert visit haha.

Cross-section of tiramisu topped with mascarpone cream

The sponge was fluffier than I expected, and the mascarpone cream on top was rich but, to my taste, not overly sweet. So I kept going for bite after bite haha.

A spoonful taken from the tiramisu sponge

I'm pretty picky when it comes to picking desserts, and out of everything I tried this time, the tiramisu was the most memorable. If you love tiramisu and are looking for a café/dessert spot near Guui Station, this one's worth checking out too!

Came for the pavlova, found the tiramisu instead haha

It was a bit disappointing not to get the pavlova, but thanks to that I got to try the tiramisu, so I'll call it a win haha. Next time, if the pavlova's available, I'd like to try it as originally planned.

Is Center Coffee Guui East Pole worth a visit?

This time, we stopped by Center Coffee for a quick rest while running errands at East Pole. The hot golden nectarine tea I picked for my cold was great, but the real surprise was the original tiramisu haha.

The pavlova I originally wanted wasn't available that day, so I picked the tiramisu instead — and it ended up being the most memorable item of the visit! The Americano started with a light acidity that gave way to a nutty finish, and we both enjoyed it. So if you're looking for good coffee in Gwangjin, our Americano review might be worth a look too.

The store itself had high ceilings and an open, airy layout, making it a comfortable spot to sit and rest with a coffee after errands at East Pole! I'll be trying the pavlova again next time haha. If you're near Guui Station or East Pole looking for a café/dessert spot, take a look at the Americano, golden nectarine tea, and original tiramisu I tried :)
