Hi, I'm Chaeoni❣️ I've been craving eel so much lately🥺🥺 I had plans in Seongsu and found out there was a great eel restaurant nearby, so I ran straight there!! Songnim Bok Jangeo is already super famous, and there's a Seongsu branch nearby, so I checked it out. This is Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Seongsu Branch, where you can enjoy not just freshwater eel but pork belly and even precious chicken neck meat, all on the charcoal grill!!
How to walk to Songnim Bok Jangeo from Musinsa Seongsu in 10 minutes

It was a rainy day in Seongsu. I had plans near Musinsa in Seongsu, and it was about a 10-minute walk to Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch, which was perfect👍🏻 The main street in Seongsu gets so crowded, but this place felt like a real local favorite — the kind of spot only insiders know about!! Great place to visit👍🏻👍🏻

How much is all-you-can-eat eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch?
The all-you-can-eat price is ₩29,900 per person, plus a ₩3,000 table charge👀🤍 Since the place hasn't been open that long, the interior was overall very clean and I loved that!!

The time limit is 2 hours, and since eel is really precious, you know to take just as much as you'll finish without leaving any, right?!! They even have a guide on how to grill it deliciously, so I grilled it well while watching haha

First round is served, refills are self-serve
At Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch, the first plate is brought to you!! Plump eel, pork belly, and chicken neck meat come out✨ The pork belly looked like great quality meat too!! I also love chicken neck meat, so I was curious how it would be.

Here's the thing: refills aren't brought to your table, you can freely help yourself at the self-serve bar!!! When you have to ask the owner every time you want more, it gets a little awkward to keep eating, but here everything's ready at the self-serve bar so there's no need to feel self-conscious🥹 You just grab whatever cut you like — isn't that great?!!!!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

The basic side dishes come out first! Lettuce, chili peppers, garlic and the like are at the self-serve bar so you just grab them! There are so many solid side dishes to eat with the eel too — ginger, perilla leaves, baek-kimchi (white kimchi) and more🤍

The free bottle of bokbunja wine: what's the catch?
The biggest perk of Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch is!!!! Getting a whole bottle of bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) wine🩷 I thought the opening event had ended since it started around June, but they said they're still giving it out until the end of August,,, when I asked, they said it would feel bad to stop giving it once they started, but they also said it could end once the opening period runs long, so keep that in mind!! One bottle of bokbunja wine and I was just so happy,,,🩷🩷
They grill the eel thoroughly starting from the skin!! The eel looked delicious just to look at, plump and in great condition👍🏻

They kept grilling it deliciously!! It was almost my first time grilling eel so it wasn't that easy,,,,
Cheers with bokbunja wine~~ Eel with bokbunja wine, quite the energizing combo, right?!! Perfect way to end a tough day🤭

How do the eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat taste?
We ate it in all kinds of combinations. Eel really is delicious no matter how you eat it!! With ssam (lettuce wraps), perilla leaves, ginger, garlic and more served generously, it was truly the best!!

When you get a little tired of eel, they grill up some pork belly. Pork belly, the soul food of Koreans as always — it was so well cooked and delicious, and after eating eel it tasted extra good in a different way.

A partner of the Freshwater Eel Farming Fisheries Cooperative!! Learning that made it feel really trustworthy.

The extra eel we grabbed was also super plump and delicious, and the chicken neck meat was chewy and truly a special treat! Such a happy day,,, I want to go again🥺🥺

Is Songnim Bok Jangeo Seongsu Branch worth it?
Eel is expensive and not easy to eat often, but for a price in the high ₩20,000s you can enjoy eel, pork belly, and chicken neck meat all together — the best👍🏻 The Seongsu branch also serves a whole bottle of bokbunja wine as an opening event (not sure until when). Eel + bokbunja wine = happiness🩷 A local favorite that only insiders know about, this Seongsu-dong local restaurant Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Seongsu Branch, I really recommend it👍🏻
