Bossam suyuk and kalguksu near Hapjeong Station

While looking for delicious bossam near Hapjeong Station, I visited <Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch>. You can have tender bossam suyuk (boiled pork) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) together here, so I wanted to share it with anyone looking for great bossam in Hapjeong 🤍 It would be lovely for a filling lunch of ppyeo kalguksu (bone broth knife-cut noodles), or for having a drink with bossam suyuk and various dishes in the evening.

₩5,000 anchovy kalguksu with an order of bossam

When you order bossam suyuk, you can add anchovy kalguksu for ₩5,000! Along with bossam suyuk, there were plenty of drink-friendly dishes such as buchujeon (chive pancake), seasoned oysters, and pyeonyuk naengchae (pressed pork cold salad), plus ppyeo kalguksu for lunch.

Bossam suyuk (medium), ₩42,000

Medium bossam suyuk menu
Generous serving of bossam suyuk

Even though it was the medium size, it came with a very generous amount of pork. The uneven slices somehow made it look even more appetizing!!

The side dishes that came with it looked so appetizing too, right? Fresh young napa cabbage, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), shredded radish, and more made it perfect for wrapping up the pork ❤️ An extra order of young napa cabbage is ₩2,000.

There was a big pile of meat tucked underneath, and the surface had just the right sheen, making it look so moist~.

Moist, glossy suyuk

The pork itself was delicious, so it was good even simply dipped in a little saeujeot (salted shrimp).

Putting the meat on young napa cabbage and topping it with geotjeori confirmed it: bossam plus wraps is the best combo..🤤 The geotjeori, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and shredded radish were all seriously delicious. Truly great restaurants start with delicious side dishes. .

The meat had just the right amount of fat mixed in, so it wasn't dry like lean pork alone. Its tender, moist texture was exactly my style. Best of all, there wasn't even a hint of porky smell!! I think I found my all-time favorite bossam spot 😍

Anchovy kalguksu, ₩5,000

And here is the anchovy kalguksu we ordered with the bossam suyuk. Since it was only ₩5,000 with an order of bossam suyuk, we decided to add it. At that price, I honestly expected a small tasting-size bowl, but it arrived in a much bigger bowl than I expected, which surprised me!

It was generously topped with garnish, and the broth had that deep, savory flavor unique to anchovy stock. It wasn't strongly seasoned or salty; instead, it was mild and clean, so it went nicely with the pork. A bite of pork followed by a sip of kalguksu broth cut through the richness, making it a really good pairing 👍👍

The bossam suyuk had just enough fat that it wasn't dry, and its moist, tender texture made this an all-time favorite bossam spot for me.. ❤️ I would recommend it as a great Hapjeong lunch spot for ppyeo kalguksu, or in the evening for a drink with bossam suyuk, buchujeon, or seasoned oysters. There are plenty of tables too, so it seems like a solid choice for anyone looking for a Hapjeong work-dinner venue.

Mint candies at the register

They even had mint candies by the register, so I picked one up to enjoy on the way out haha.

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is about a five-minute walk from Hapjeong Station, so it is easy to get to, and I got to enjoy wonderfully tender, soft bossam suyuk here. If you're looking for great bossam in Hapjeong, I recommend the bossam suyuk-and-kalguksu combination at <Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch>.
