Tangerine sando takeout at a Gangnam café: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a large dessert café on Gangnam-daero 102-gil near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul, with indoor seating on the 1st and 2nd floors plus a rooftop. On a clear day the writer took an outdoor seat at Something About Coffee for hojicha choux milk tea, a matcha cream choco latte and a candied chestnut-pumpkin financier, then carried a tangerine sando (fruit sandwich) home. The tangerine sando, built around a whole tangerine, was the most memorable item and the one worth ordering again.

If you're looking for a café near Gangnam Station, I'd recommend Something About Coffee near Sinnonhyeon Station. With seating on the 1st floor, 2nd floor, and even a rooftop, it's a great spot to relax outdoors on a nice day with dessert and drinks. This time I had hojicha choux milk tea, matcha cream choco latte, and a chestnut pumpkin pâte de fruit financier, and took a tangerine sando to go.
A spacious café near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam

Something About Coffee turned out to be bigger than expected, with the 1st and 2nd floors plus a rooftop space. When looking for a café near Gangnam Station, having plenty of seating actually matters more than you'd think.

The indoor space felt comfortable for chatting, but since the weather was nice that day, I chose an outdoor seat. Sipping drinks and eating dessert in the fresh air felt surprisingly relaxing, even in the middle of Gangnam.
What we ordered at Something About Coffee

I ordered the hojicha choux milk tea and the matcha cream choco latte. For dessert I picked the chestnut pumpkin pâte de fruit financier, along with a tangerine sando to eat at home later. Seeing the drinks and desserts together on the table was already a mood-lifter with all the colors.
Candied chestnut-pumpkin financier: how sweet is it?

The chestnut pumpkin pâte de fruit financier was quite sweet overall, and you could catch little bits of chestnut pumpkin in every bite.

The chestnut pumpkin pâte de fruit financier was sweet overall, with a slightly crisp outside and a moist inside. Each bite had little chunks of chestnut pumpkin, making it more fun to eat than a plain financier. The cozy flavor of the chestnut pumpkin blended nicely with the sweet pâte de fruit coating, making it a great fit for an autumn dessert. Since it's on the sweeter side, it paired well with the slightly bitter matcha cream choco latte for a nice balance. If you're looking for a small dessert to pair with coffee, this is a solid, safe choice.
Matcha cream choco latte and hojicha choux milk tea

The matcha cream choco latte had a vivid matcha color that looked great in photos. The soft cream on top made it feel like enjoying a dessert, and if you like the combination of chocolate and matcha, it's worth trying at least once.

The hojicha choux milk tea had cream layered on top of a calm, muted color, which added to the table's atmosphere. Drinking the smooth milk tea together with the cream gave a sweet, dessert-like feeling. The matcha cream choco latte's vivid matcha tone made it especially photogenic, and placing the two drinks side by side created a nice contrast in mood. Neither drink was too light, making them well-suited to sip slowly alongside dessert, and they paired nicely with the chestnut pumpkin pâte de fruit financier. Sitting outside with a breeze while drinking made for an even more satisfying little break.
Tangerine sando: the one dessert to order

What stood out most from this visit was, without a doubt, the tangerine sando. Even after taking it home, the bread stayed soft with a slightly chewy texture, and it was genuinely delicious. The cream wasn't greasy and paired well with the tangerine, and best of all, a whole tangerine was packed inside, so every bite burst with freshness.

The combination of sweet cream and bright tangerine makes it a great after-meal dessert, and I'd also recommend it as a gift or takeout item. If I had to pick just one dessert at a café near Gangnam Station, the tangerine sando would be my first recommendation.
