Pangyo Korean BBQ pork belly at opening time: Dwaeji Mansion
In short
Dwaeji Mansion Pangyo Avenue France Branch is a Korean BBQ pork restaurant in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. My wife and I arrived for the 5 PM reopening and had staff-grilled pork belly, herring roe, pork neck, and two bottles of soju. Verdict: Go right at opening if you hate waiting!

I tried Dwaeji Mansion at Pangyo Avenue France right at opening time
Address: 25 Dongpangyo-ro 177beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea Hours: 11:30 AM–10:30 PM (Break time: 2:30 PM–5 PM)
Last Saturday, my wife and I went to Dwaeji Mansion Pangyo Avenue France Branch, a pork belly place near Pangyo Station that is famous around Pangyo Avenue France. Every time I had passed by before, it was always packed with diners, and it is widely known as a great Pangyo pork belly spot with a wait~
We absolutely hate waiting, so we tried visiting right when it reopened after break time. We deliberately headed out to make it for 5 PM.

Dwaeji Mansion is one of the good restaurants at Pangyo Avenue France, so we decided to walk from home. You can park at Avenue France, but it is an easy, leisurely walk from our place—and since we wanted pork belly with a shot of soju, we came on foot.

Coming right at opening really might have been a genius move. When we arrived, there was exactly one table left~! Nice!~! We really are lucky~! Waiting makes you hungry and tired, you know haha
Dwaeji Mansion specializes in pork, including samgyeopsal (pork belly) and moksal (pork neck). We ordered two servings of pork belly and soju, then added pork neck too~
It would have been even better with steamed egg, but there was a decent amount of meat and the quality was good, so we left full. These days I have been trying to diet at dinner, cutting back on alcohol and eating only witch soup, so even a little food makes me feel full.

The basic sides and herring roe combination
The basic side dishes come out simply, like in the photo above. The wood ear mushrooms were surprisingly tasty~

The marinated shredded scallions? were tasty too haha

And Dwaeji Mansion at Pangyo Avenue France serves herring roe alongside the meal. There is herring roe fried rice on the side menu, but putting herring roe on pork belly was seriously delicious haha

This is the atmosphere inside. There was even a group reservation, so despite walking in right at 5, there were barely any tables left haha When we started eating and looked through the window, the waiting line had already begun~
I thought I had ordered Cheoeum Cheoreom, but I guess I ordered Chamisul Fresh haha I usually prefer Cheoeum Cheoreom (though I do not actually like soju that much), but since coming back from a trip to Busan, I seem to drink soju more often.
Our two servings of pork belly arrived, and I liked that the staff grill it for you, so there is nothing to worry about. Pork belly and a shot of soju at this Pangyo Avenue France favorite—what a perfect pairing, right?

First, before the meat is cooked, you have to moisturize your stomach with soju, haha.
It was practically our first meal at 5 PM, so we started with a shot of soju~! It felt like daytime drinking without quite being daytime drinking~

Staff-grilled pork belly and pork neck
Avenue France has quite a few good restaurants, but Dwaeji Mansion is always full of people. I had wanted to try it because nearby Pangyo office workers often come for team dinners on weekday evenings, and visiting on the weekend was nice.

I think lots of office workers come here for team dinners because the staff grill the meat for you. There must be a reason people line up to eat here.
First, they grilled the pork belly to a nice golden brown. They grilled the mushrooms well too haha
Herring roe, wasabi, and salt are the basic accompaniments. They first told us to try it with salt, then suggested having it with the herring roe and garlic scapes?
Then they served it topped with the minari (water parsley)? that they had grilled alongside it, and it was so delicious once it hit my mouth. The meat at Dwaeji Mansion was really good haha Maybe because it had been so long since I had pork belly, but I really enjoyed it.

They grilled garlic and scallions too, and they were great eaten together with the meat.

Once all the meat was grilled, the whole table was full. If I had known they would grill it for us, I should have ordered pork neck from the start haha
They told us to dip the mushrooms in the sauce that came with them.

They prepared the pork neck for us. Pork neck is not usually cut thick and grilled like this, but it tasted great too. While the pork belly was grilled crisp, the pork neck was grilled tender. It seems they use different grilling styles for each cut.

We managed to drink two bottles of soju here. We finished everything deliciously, then headed out for a second round.

A waiting line still going at 6 PM
Wow... we came out around 6 PM, and what is this waiting line... The line at Dwaeji Mansion, a Pangyo Avenue France favorite, was insane haha I think the reason people line up like this is the delicious, high-quality pork. Definitely a Pangyo pork belly spot where we had a great meal! I highly recommend Dwaeji Mansion!
