While deciding what to have for lunch in Pangyo, I was craving meat for the first time in a while, so I went to Bulgogi On Soban Pangyo Branch (불고기 온소반 판교점).
Pangyo has so many great lunch spots for office workers, but when you want a filling Korean meal, choosing a menu is surprisingly tricky. That day, I wanted a proper meal of rice and meat, and to give away the conclusion first: I was happy with it because everything came neatly arranged as a full set meal, along with warm bulgogi on a hot plate :)
There were two of us, and we ordered the [VIP] garlic kkotgalbisal (beef rib meat) bulgogi for ₩18,000. You can order it for ₩18,000 with a Naver reservation~!
A roomier, cleaner restaurant than expected
The restaurant was located farther inside the building. Once we went in, it was quite a bit more spacious than it looked from outside.

With lots of tables and an overall bright, clean feel, it seemed like a perfectly solid lunch spot for Pangyo office workers. The seating also looked ample enough for a group visit.

Each table had instructions on how to enjoy the bulgogi, including having it with ssam vegetables and side dishes, or with the house garlic ssamjang dipping sauce.
Ordering the garlic kkotgalbisal bulgogi
Our pick was the garlic kkotgalbisal bulgogi!

They also had regular pork bulgogi and mixed bulgogi, but we wanted a proper meat meal that day, so we chose the kkotgalbisal, haha. After ordering and waiting a little, our individual meal trays arrived first.

Each person got rice, bean sprout soup, pickled onions, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), corn salad, and other sides separately, and I really like this setup. Rather than sharing side dishes among several people, everything was neatly arranged in individual portions, which was convenient.

The rice was multigrain rice rather than plain white rice too, so it felt even more filling!
A generous serving of beef rib meat on a hot plate
Then, a little later, the main garlic kkotgalbisal bulgogi arrived on a sizzling hot plate.
It was not just meat: onions, mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, corn, and all kinds of vegetables came piled on top, so the spread was more substantial than expected. It arrived still sizzling on the hot plate, and just looking at it made me want rice, haha.

The seasoning on the kkotgalbisal was not too strong, so I could taste the savory flavor of the meat itself too. It was especially better when I picked up onions and mushrooms along with it.

A bite of meat, a spoonful of rice, then a little pickled onion here and there—it was just the right combination. True to its name, the garlic kkotgalbisal had a sweet-savory sauce with added garlic flavor, a little different from typical bulgogi, and it went really well with rice.
A filling meal with plenty of side dishes
Personally, the bulgogi itself was tasty, but I also liked the overall set-meal arrangement. Eating only kkotgalbisal could become a little rich, but the tangy pickled onions or kkakdugi refreshed my palate now and then, making it easy to eat through the whole meal without feeling weighed down.
And the corn salad was something I kept reaching for, haha. It was sweet and savory, so it was nice to have a bite between the meat. The bean sprout soup also came with it, which was good when I wanted something warm and brothy.

With each of us receiving our own set meal, the portion was not lacking for two people. It felt like a proper, complete meal, so I think it is a good choice when looking for a filling lunch in Pangyo.
When you are in the mood for bulgogi in Pangyo
Bulgogi On Soban Pangyo Branch was good for an office-worker lunch in Pangyo and also an easy place to visit for anyone who likes Korean food. The garlic kkotgalbisal bulgogi I had costs ₩18,000, so it is a little pricier than a typical lunch menu. Still, with beef rib meat, rice, soup, and sides all included, plus a generous serving on a hot plate, it is a good choice for a day when you really want meat.
I think it would especially suit people who prefer sweet-savory bulgogi seasoning or beef over regular gochujang bulgogi. My favorite combination was picking up the meat, onions, and mushrooms together and putting them over rice, haha. The restaurant was also fairly spacious, so it looked suitable not only for lunch but also for dining with coworkers or coming as a group.
When you are tired of the same lunch menus every day in Pangyo and craving bulgogi on a warm hot plate with a full tray of rice, it could be worth a visit :)
Sweet-savory garlic seasoning, plenty of beef rib meat, mushrooms, and onions! A filling Korean lunch in Pangyo that was great with a bowl of rice.
