Today, I’d like to introduce a Korean restaurant near Seohyeon Station that is perfect when you want to recharge with a hearty, neat meal.

It’s Okdengjang Seohyeon Branch, where the old-fashioned atmosphere of a traditional market coexists with modern comfort.

You know those times when you miss a carefully prepared full table of food? This is a place with the kind of home-style Korean cooking that people of all ages can enjoy, so I really wanted to share it.
An easy-to-find Korean dining spot by Seohyeon Station

You can check out the entire menu right from the entrance, so it feels easy to step inside. It’s a brand that is also much loved in key Seoul areas such as Jonggak, Sinchon, and Apgujeong.
I was so happy to find it near Seohyeon Station in Bundang that I hurried right over.
It is only 160 m from Exit 4 of Seohyeon Station on the Suin–Bundang Line, making it very accessible by public transit. The underground parking lot was spacious too, so parking was easy. It works nicely for everyone from solo diners to pairs, tables of four, and small meal gatherings.
Okdengjang is especially popular as a filling lunch spot for office workers, and in the evening as a venue for company dinners or family gatherings.
Parking around Seohyeon Station is always a challenge, but Okdengjang Seohyeon has its own parking lot in the building. I could park without worrying and enjoy my meal with a light heart.

A meal that starts with the basic table setting
The pleasant meal began with cleanly maintained utensils and hygiene supplies, plus a refreshing cup of tea already set at the table.

Before the mains arrived, they prepared a fried egg for us. That round little egg was so adorable. *^^*

The basic side dishes included stir-fried kimchi with deep savory flavor, a house soy sauce, and seasoned garlic.

In particular, the nutty stir-fried kimchi and crisp roasted eomma gim (seaweed sheets) are Okdengjang specialties that make a bowl of rice disappear in no time.

Hot pots that don’t require everyone to order the same thing
Okdengjang’s biggest appeal is that you do not have to settle on one identical menu for the whole group. Each person can freely choose the combination they want.

Whelk doenjang hot pot and assorted boiled-meat hot pot
The whelk doenjang hot pot has a savory, rich broth base, where the deep meatiness of beef pork belly blends wonderfully with the clean seafood flavor of whelks.
It is generously filled with fresh additions such as minari (water celery), mushrooms, tofu, and onions. It is not aggressively salty, and is wonderfully suited to mixing into rice with its just-saucy broth.
For a fortifying meal, the small assorted boiled-meat hot pot arrives neatly arranged with 200 g of three cuts—arongsatae, flat iron steak, and beef tendon—and pepper is freshly sprinkled over it at the table for extra flavor.
Once it comes to a vigorous boil over high heat on the induction burner, dip it in the house sauce. The meat’s nutty richness and tender texture fill your mouth.
You can add meat such as beef short rib, tendon, or arongsatae during the meal, and add kalguksu noodles, sujebi hand-torn dough, or glass noodles to make it even more abundant to your taste.
Beef pork-belly tofu kimchi brightened with minari
The beef pork-belly tofu kimchi, balancing crunch and savory richness, caught my eye from the moment it appeared. The combination of nicely stir-fried beef and pork belly with sweet-spicy stir-fried kimchi looked mouthwatering.
I placed some well-ripened stir-fried kimchi and plenty of meat on mild tofu and took a big bite. Honestly, I could not stop reaching for it.

It especially stood out for having a different kind of appeal from the kimchi stew I had tried before.

Where kimchi stew is simmered hard for a long time and melts softly in your mouth, this tofu kimchi was stir-fried, preserving kimchi’s own texture and the fragrant aroma of oil. It was clean-tasting yet wonderfully moreish.

Fragrant minari and generous meat
Most impressive of all was the fresh minari arranged neatly on top of the tofu kimchi. Its distinctive fragrance balanced the richness of the meat and added a clean finish, creating an even healthier, more refined flavor.

It was not beef pork belly in name only: the plate was packed generously with meat, so I enjoyed it right through to the end without feeling anything was lacking. Meat lovers will surely be pleased by both the look and the portion.

The kimchi itself is so good that whatever you order tastes delicious.

I have always had a soft spot for Korean food, so I tend to seek out meals that are as filling and easy on the stomach as home cooking~ The perfectly balanced savory flavor kept drawing me back and lingered in my mind even after I left. I really recommend a visit to anyone wanting a neat, satisfying Korean meal.

With friendly service, carefully made food, and convenient parking all in one place, this is somewhere I would return to whenever I wanted to restore myself with a neat Korean meal.
