Back when I lived near Mia, I used to go to Daehangno all the time — it had been a while since my last visit! Hyehwa Station has so much good food and so much to see, it's a great spot for anyone looking for a Seoul date spot. There's just an energy to it, you know? Today I'm sharing my visit to Hanamato, a Hyehwa bar. If you're looking for great snacks and drinks at a good price, this is the place!!

Where is Hanamato Daehangno Hyehwa, and what does it look like?

Hanamato sits inside the Daehangno food alley near Hyehwa Station. The sign really catches your eye from far away, haha. Super easy to find. There are outdoor tables at the entrance with that street-drinking vibe, which will probably get really popular once the cool breeze kicks in.

The second floor has table seating, which seems great for groups! If you're looking for something to do in Daehangno, cool and well-atmosphered Hanamato is a good pick.

Hanamato, this Hyehwa bar, isn't just a place to drink. Rather than chasing trends that come and go fast, it aims to be a neighborhood-style bar built on human warmth and atmosphere — somewhere you can drop by without pressure and just relax. Right in the middle of Seoul, but it feels like a regular's neighborhood hangout.

Ordering by tablet: oden and skewers in the 10,000-won range

At Hanamato, each table has a tablet for checking the menu and ordering. Oden and skewers you can enjoy for ₩10,000-ish prices, plus a wide range of drinks — a Hyehwa spot where picking what to eat is half the fun.

I ordered the main menu items at this Hyehwa bar: 5 charcoal yakitori skewers and 5 oden pieces, and the yakitori were grilled right away! For a moment I felt like I was in a Japanese izakaya — I really love that vibe.

My pick at Hanamato today was cold sake and Sapporo draft beer. With such good turnover, the draft beer tastes amazing.

The 5-piece oden set: simmer it yourself on the induction burner

The 5 oden pieces come out raw like this, and they give you broth for the induction burner set up at the table, so you add pieces in as you eat — that made it even better!

I'd recommend adding pieces in one at a time as you eat rather than dumping everything in at once.

Don't underestimate it just because it's only 5 pieces of oden. They're big, so you need to cut them with the scissors provided! As someone who always needs a soup dish with drinks, I really love this setup.

Why the 5-skewer yakitori set beats ordering skewers one by one

The 5 charcoal yakitori skewers get grilled the moment you order. You can order them individually, but the set is cheaper, so I tried it — and it turned out to be the better choice! Getting to enjoy 5 popular skewers at once was great, and better than always ordering the same thing, it let me try new flavors. Best of all, everything was delicious, so you can order more of whichever skewer you liked!

Anything grilled over charcoal is bound to taste good, but the atmosphere was great too, which made Hanamato, this Hyehwa bar in Seoul, all the more likable. If you want something to do in Daehangno, like catching a play and grabbing drinks after, this is a great place to visit.

After drinks in Daehangno: the night view from Naksan Park

After drinks at Hanamato, I headed up to Naksan Park. At night it's less hot than during the day, so I climbed up there for the first time in a while! Naksan Park lets you see the night view right in the middle of Seoul — if you're looking for something to do in Daehangno, this course is a good way to go!
