Cheongdam chicken soup restaurant with free rice refills: Mimgye

A light yet filling, healthy meal in Cheongdam: Cheongdam Mimgye.

I stopped by Cheongdam Mimgye, a chicken restaurant, while out in the Cheongdam area with my partner. Even in Cheongdam, it was a hearty meal at a reasonable price, and rice was unlimited during lunch hours, so it seemed to be a favorite lunch spot for nearby office workers haha ;) Since the menu is centered on chicken, it's great for a healthy meal, and the deep yet clean broth flavor stood out! Here's my review of Mimgye, a casual Cheongdam lunch spot that was comfortable to enjoy 😊

Where is Cheongdam Mimgye, and what are its hours and parking?

Cheongdam Mimgye is located at 20 Hakdong-ro 77-gil, 1st floor (31-27 Cheongdam-dong), Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Exit 8 of Cheongdam Station on Line 7. Hours are weekdays 11:00–21:30 and Saturday 11:00–21:00, with last order 1 hour before closing, and it's closed every Sunday.

Inside Cheongdam Mimgye: seating, atmosphere and free corkage

The interior had a warm wood-tone design. The space stretched back further than it looked from outside, making the table layout comfortable and tidy to move through. With seating for 2 up to 4 people plus sofa seats, it looked great for office workers' lunches or small gatherings too.

Wine glasses were set out on one side of the restaurant — corkage is free. Seems like a good spot for a light drink alongside chicken dishes in the evening too ;)

Cheongdam Mimgye menu and weekday lunch prices

True to being a chicken specialty restaurant, there's quite a variety of chicken-based dishes, from chicken hot pot to dakgomtang (chicken soup), dakgaejang (spicy chicken soup), chicken noodle soup, and chogyemyeon (cold chicken noodles). Besides soups, there are also side dishes like cheese buldak (spicy chicken) and pancakes.

For weekday lunch, there's a variety of meal options in the low-₩10,000s range like half dakgomtang or spicy dakgaejang, and rice is unlimited too. For Cheongdam, this was a hearty and affordable price point for lunch :) We visited as a pair and ordered spicy dakgaejang (₩11,000), half dakgomtang (₩10,000), and barley shrimp pancake (₩14,000).

How do the spicy dakgaejang and half dakgomtang taste?

Clean, simple banchan (side dishes) that pair well with chicken dishes — kimchi, corn salad, and pickles.

My partner's order, spicy dakgaejang (₩11,000). Topped with shredded scallions and egg garnish, with plenty of hearty ingredients haha

If you like glass noodles, definitely add some — they really give you a generous amount 👍 Spicy, rich broth plus rice. My partner's pick for a satisfying lunch 😋

This is the half dakgomtang I ordered (₩10,000). I loved the rich yet clean, savory broth flavor —

Adding crushed garlic and pepper seasoning made it even more flavorful and delicious 😋 It was nice that a variety of seasonings were set out on the table so you can adjust to your own taste :)

True to its name, the half dakgomtang comes with an entire half chicken in it — warm chicken broth plus chicken meat, great as a wholesome nourishing dish :) Not overly seasoned, so I'd recommend it to those watching their diet too.

Barley shrimp scallion pancake and the complimentary chogyemyeon

Golden-brown barley shrimp pancake (₩14,000). Packed with vegetables, with a subtle savory flavor from the barley shrimp and a crispy texture. Adding this one to our meal made it feel like a set menu :)

If you take part in the in-store event, you also get chogyemyeon (cold chicken noodles) as a complimentary dish — and for a freebie, the portion is quite generous 👀!

Adding the sauce made it sweet, tangy, and refreshing — great as a palate cleanser after the dakgomtang and pancake. If you visit, definitely try the event too ;)

Is Cheongdam Mimgye worth a lunch visit? Final verdict

Mimgye was a great place for a hearty lunch in Cheongdam at a reasonable price 😊 From the gentle dakgomtang to the spicy dakgaejang and crispy pancake, the menu was varied and portions generous — an overall satisfying meal. It's a chicken specialty restaurant that's just as good for lunch as it is for a drink in the evening. If you're looking for a good-value, easy-on-the-stomach lunch spot in Cheongdam-dong, this is worth a visit ;)!
