I had to head over to Yeonsinnae Station for some personal errands, and since I was already there, I heard there was a great tonkatsu spot nearby, so I stopped for lunch haha.

How to walk to Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae from Yeonsinnae Station Exit 5
Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station. Exit 4 seems to get you there about the same distance! Being so close to the exit made it super easy to access haha.

When I arrived, the outside had that neat, cozy neighborhood tonkatsu shop vibe. The sign was straightforward, so it was easy to find :)
Inside Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae: 3 tables and 4 bar seats

Inside was small and clean. There are 3 regular tables, which looked good for eating with a friend, and a 4-seat bar table that made it feel totally fine to come alone too. Overall it wasn't a fancy, upscale kind of place — more casual, the kind of spot you can just walk into comfortably for tonkatsu.
When I actually got there, two tables already had customers and delivery orders kept coming in, so the owner looked busy handling it all alone. One of the tables even had a foreign customer! Guess this really is a tonkatsu spot near Yeonsinnae Station worth knowing about ☺️
What's on the menu at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae

They had a wide range of tonkatsu options — rosu katsu, hire katsu, cheese katsu, mixed katsu — plus noodle dishes like cold soba and cold udon, so there was plenty to choose from depending on your mood. There are also set menus if you want tonkatsu and noodles together, so the options were pretty varied! 👍 There's a review event going on too, worth joining!
We went with the classic rosu katsu (pork loin) and the cheese katsu (mozzarella), which feels like a must at any tonkatsu place.
How did the rosu katsu and cheese katsu taste?

The food took a little while to come out, so waiting just made me hungrier lol. We poured our own water and got the sauce ready in the meantime haha.
Rosu katsu (pork loin cutlet)

We started with the basic rosu katsu. It came out thicker than I expected, so it looked pretty filling just from appearance alone. The outside was coated in crispy breading, but not too thick, so you could still really feel the texture of the meat.
Taking a bite, the outside was crispy while the meat inside was juicy and tender. The fatty part along the loin, in particular, added a nice savory note that came through more the more I chewed. If you like classic tonkatsu, this is a solid, satisfying choice.
Cheese katsu (mozzarella cutlet)

The cheese katsu's visuals were insane the moment it arrived! 🧀 The crispy fried cutlet was packed with mozzarella, and while it was still hot the cheese stretched out in long strands. 🤤
Biting in, after the crispy breading you get hit with a wave of soft, savory cheese, giving it a totally different charm from the rosu katsu. The cheese wasn't greasy at all, and it paired really well with the light, clean flavor of the meat.

Honest drawbacks and tips before you visit
Both were delicious, but personally I thought the outer breading was quite crispy — not so much that it affected the taste though, so I enjoyed it just fine! If you love crispy textures, highly recommend! ☺️ Every bite made me think of ASMR, the crunch sound was no joke lol.
The tonkatsu itself was also pretty large, so the portion was generous, the taste was great, and I ended up super full after finishing haha.
Since the space is small, there might be a wait during peak hours! They seem to do delivery too, so ordering in could work well. If you're looking for a good tonkatsu spot near Yeonsinnae Station or a place for lunch, give Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch a try!
