The first thing that caught my eye at Romaok Riverside was the space itself. The unique hanok-motif exterior blends with a modern interior, giving it a different atmosphere from a typical Italian restaurant.

I especially liked the window seats overlooking the garden and the generous spacing between tables — perfect for conversation on a special day.

I visited on a weekday afternoon, and the weather was gorgeous — bright, warm sunlight with a gentle breeze.

With such nice weather, the anniversary felt even happier, and watching the scenery outside while eating made me feel like I was on a little outing~~

On the second floor there's a space overlooking the Bukhan River, and outside there's the quiet, serene atmosphere unique to a hanok — I imagine the daytime and evening moods are quite different.

With lighting added at night, it seems like it could get even more romantic — noted as a Han River date course!!

It suits a couple's anniversary so well that I was already giving it a passing grade before the food even arrived!!

Abalone geou pasta: kelp-steamed abalone and garlic scapes, the dish to order at Romaok Riverside

Of all the options, the one I was most curious about was the abalone geou (abalone innards) pasta.

It's linguine with kelp-steamed abalone, garlic scapes, and geou sauce, and even just plated on the dish it looked quite pretty.

The abalone came in whole, so its presence was unmistakable at first glance.

Tasting it, the sauce had soaked well into the abalone, giving a chewy texture along with a taste of the sea~

The geou sauce, being kelp-based, had a subtle ocean fragrance and umami, and the garlic scapes throughout added a crisp texture and clean finish.

The sauce's rich flavor was subtle rather than heavy, and the garlic scapes seemed to reset the palate every so often — so I could eat it comfortably all the way to the last bite without it feeling too much.

Twirling the abalone together with the pasta let me taste the sauce's flavor and the abalone's chewiness at once — personally, this was a memorable dish.

It felt like a shame to have just pasta, so I looked for something good to share and also ordered the gorgonzola pizza~ It's my husband's favorite dish these days!

Gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese with ricotta mousse, béchamel cream, cranberries, and honey — it looked great, and tasted even better~

Even with all that cheese, it felt light and clean overall rather than heavy. In particular, the gorgonzola's salty tang combined with the ricotta mousse's softness and the honey's gentle sweetness went really well alongside the pasta.

If you're visiting as a couple, ordering one pasta and one pizza to share seems like a great idea.

There are so many photogenic dishes here, so if you're looking for a Suseok-dong spot to chat slowly and take photos over a meal — like an anniversary dinner — you'll enjoy the fun of choosing the menu too!!

Romaok is a place best enjoyed by taking in the whole space, not just eating and leaving right away!

On the first floor, you can leisurely enjoy authentic Italian cooking woven with Korean ingredients, paired with wine.

After the meal, head up to the second floor and enjoy coffee or dessert while looking at the Han River~ I took a look around the 2nd-floor café space, and the big windows made for such a great river view that I'm planning to come back just for the café next time!

The outdoor space also blends the quiet, serene hanok atmosphere with the Han River scenery, so on a nice autumn-sky day like this, you really have to step out and take a look before or after the meal!! You'd regret missing this view~~

Rather than just being a Suseok-dong pasta spot, it's a space you can use for anything from a date to a family meal out or a meal for an anniversary or special occasion! They even host small weddings and first-birthday (dol) parties here, so there's no need to say more about how good the atmosphere is.
