Weekend solo brunch: fig matcha cream baguette at Seoul Station: Dance

Let me introduce Dance Dance Dance, a sandwich shop that nails the fundamentals — good baguette, good fillings, and above all, a killer combination.

On a weekend morning that felt like autumn had suddenly arrived, I went out for a sandwich that's both healthy and delicious.

Basement level 3 of Grand Central, the Seoul Station branch has plenty of seats

I'd been to Grand Central before to see an exhibition at Ground Seesaw Central and briefly checked out the F&B floor, and it seems like even more good restaurants have moved in since then. (From B1 to B3, it's basically a lineup of Seoul's famous spots — Wit and Meat, Nops, Simpaticus, Confière, and more 🥹)

I'd also been to the Hannam-dong branch of Dance Dance Dance, but back then there weren't enough seats to eat in, so I only got it to go. The Seoul Station branch has plenty of seats and is spacious and comfortable, so I was very satisfied 😊

It's on basement level 3 of the Grand Central building — I'd guess office workers fill it on weekdays, and on weekends it was mostly young women on dates or with friends. (Quite a few solo diners like me too, actually.)

Why the kiosk is the better way to order

The regular menu board has items you can order any time,

but ordering through the kiosk lets you get the seasonal limited menu and sets, so the kiosk really is the better option.

Everything on the menu looks mouth-watering, but since Dance Dance Dance's signature move is the savory tofu cream cheese, I'd recommend the cream-filled baguette sandwiches over the jambon or egg ones! 🥪🥖💛

The autumn seasonal menu: fig matcha cream baguette

Among them, I picked the fig matcha cream baguette (with a coffee set, 20,400 won), the new autumn seasonal item. The pistachio cream also looked so good that I kept going back and forth between matcha vs. pistachio 🥲 Next time I'll try the pistachio cream or the Dubai one.

A perfectly crisp baguette spread with thick, savory matcha cream, topped with ripe fig and pistachio crumble — that's all it is, so why is it this good? (Maybe it's because the ingredients are great and the combination just works.)

Almost too pretty to squash 🥹💚 But the fig was so nicely ripe it pressed down really softly, and the moment I bit into it — wow, I could taste autumn? 🍂

Can you see the bite marks left in the overflowing cream? That's how thick and rich the matcha cream is — pairs so well with the fig, with a pleasantly bittersweet flavor, and the color combination with the fig and pistachio is just gorgeous too (I do believe pretty food tastes good).

The baguette bread was crisp but not too hard, so it wasn't painful to eat. Just be warned — there's so much fig and matcha cream that if you don't press it down properly, it can get pretty messy-looking ^_^

Two tips worth knowing before you go

🍯⭐️ Tip 1: A lot of people run Namsan starting from Hoehyeon Station, and Seoullo is also a great route for running, so you can get a discount by showing proof of your run! (But it has to be the same day's running record, and the ₩1,000 discount only applies to americano/latte.)

They must be using pretty fresh beans, since the expiration date was only about 10 days out..! (That actually made me trust it more.)

Prices are up there, but the sandwiches earn their keep

When you total it up, a single sandwich is in the high ₩10,000s, and with a coffee set it's over ₩20,000, so prices are a bit steep. But the special menu items are pretty, delicious, and even healthy, so when you want to forget the price and just eat something good, I'd recommend this place. A sandwich spot that's worth every won! (Bang bang!) 🥪💚🤎

I wonder what seasonal menu they'll have in winter — I'll have to come back and check out the seasonal lineup again.
