Gwangmyeong Korean BBQ after-work pork feast for two: Snug Roastery

In short

Snug Roastery is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Cheolsan Station in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi, where staff grill aged pork right at your table. Visiting with a friend after work, they ordered two servings of premium aged pork neck, one of pork belly, and kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), with stew and steamed egg thrown in for free. The tender, never-dry pork neck paired with the special scallion-and-chili soy sauce was the standout of the meal.

Work's been brutal lately and by evening I've got zero energy left — the only thing that fixes that is good meat! On my way home the smell of grilling pork was so strong I couldn't just walk past, so my friend and I stopped by Snug Roastery in Cheolsan. One bite in and we were both like, "okay, the quality here is just different!" So I had to share it with you all.

Interior with spaced-out round tables

The round tables are spaced out nicely, so my friend and I could sit and enjoy our meat in comfort!

I'd booked ahead on Naver, and they had everything set up right on time for us!

Free stew and steamed egg, plus a self-serve bar

Such a generous move from this Cheolsan favorite — they just hand you stew and steamed egg for free 👍🏻

We went with the bestseller today: two servings of premium aged pork neck and one serving of pork belly. Three servings between two women? Easy.

At the self-serve bar you can freely grab extra side dishes whenever you run low — so convenient 🫶🏻

I'm off alcohol this month, so I sipped on a zero-sugar cola instead. And they gave it to me with a cup of ice — such a thoughtful touch 👍🏻

Aged premium pork neck: the meat quality stands out immediately

The moment we ordered, the meat that came out already looked different from the rest. The thickness and the color of the meat clearly showed it had been properly aged! I could already imagine how good it would taste without even trying it 🫶🏻 It came with mushrooms and shishito peppers, perfect for grilling alongside.

They grill it for you, so the conversation never stops

One of the best things here is that the staff grill everything for you! From checking the grill temperature to timing the flips, they handle it all like professionals — so easy for us.

No interruptions to our conversation from having to flip the meat ourselves, and since it comes out perfectly cooked every time, all the juices stay locked in. You know pork neck is genuinely hard to grill well, right? But they did it so perfectly I was honestly impressed.

Kimchi jjigae loaded with meat — I wanted to order a second one

Craving something spicy and hot, we ordered the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) too, and I was surprised at how much thick meat was packed inside! The broth was deep and rich too — the kind of dish that makes you polish off two bowls of rice without noticing 👍🏻

I'm normally more of a doenjang jjigae person than a kimchi jjigae person, but this was so good I wanted to order another one. You have to try it!!

Pork neck that's never dry

I tried a golden-brown piece of pork neck first — pork neck usually risks turning dry if you're not careful, right? But whatever aging process Snug Roastery uses, this one was so tender in the mouth, with the juices just bursting out 🎉 A place that gets pork neck this right earns its spot as a top pick near Cheolsan Station!

The secret weapon: special scallion-and-chili soy sauce

The real cheat code here is the special soy sauce loaded with scallions and chili. Dip a well-cooked piece of meat in this sauce and eat it together with the scallions and chili, and there's zero greasiness — just pure umami that keeps you reaching for more.

Special soy sauce loaded with scallions and chili

Such an amazing combo, highly recommend! (At first they only give you scallions, but grab some chili from the self-serve bar and add it in yourself — truly an unbeatable flavor!)

After the pork neck, pork belly with an explosion of nuttiness

Once the pork neck was finished, they immediately started grilling the pork belly! While the belly cooked, we kept feasting on the pork neck haha.

Meat paired with wasabi and myeong-i namul

Whether eaten with wasabi and myeong-i namul (mountain leek pickle) or wrapped in lettuce, everything tasted great! The meat itself was so good that no matter how we ate it, it was delicious ㅠㅠ

The pork belly got nuttier the more we chewed! Compared to other staff-grilled meat places I've visited recently, this one wins for nuttiness and tenderness combined — hands down #1 🫶🏻

Eating it with the grilled shishito peppers and mushrooms was so good, and it went perfectly with the shredded scallions too 👍🏻

To sum up

From the relaxed, staff-grilled service to the quality of the tender aged meat and the special sauce combo, nothing was missing at this Cheolsan Station favorite! Because the meat quality was so good, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal. If you're looking for a great meat spot near Cheolsan, definitely give this one a visit! I'm planning to come back soon myself to recharge on meat 🫶🏻
