Itaewon flame-grilled bones with self-serve fried rice: Nuri Maeul

In short

Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is a 24-hour gamjatang (pork bone stew), braised bone and flame-grilled bone restaurant on the second floor of a building 22m from Itaewon Station Exit 4, in Yongsan, Seoul. The writer ordered the flame-grilled bones in the small size with ramyeon noodles and self-serve fried rice, which filled the hot plate, and rates the fried rice stirred with meat picked off the bones as the highlight. Two things to know before going to Nuri Maeul Gamjatang: self-serve fried rice needs an order for two or more, and the sundae (blood sausage) add-on goes with the soup dishes, not the grilled bones.

Today I visited a place in Itaewon where you can enjoy real, hearty soup dishes and a spicy specialty too! Let me share my review of a hidden gem I found in this hot foodie destination — Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch 😊

Where is Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch, and when is it open?

Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is on the 2nd floor at 176 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, open 24 hours every day with no days off ⏰ It's an incredibly convenient spot right by the station, with a full lineup of gamjatang (pork bone stew), bone stew, and grilled bones 🚇💨

Coming out of Itaewon Station Exit 4, you're practically stumbling into the place — it's only 22m away! 😲 You really can't get a better subway-adjacent location than this 👍

Walking into the 2nd floor dining room, it was much bigger and more comfortable than I expected 🏢

One whole wall is a wide open window, so you can enjoy your meal while people-watching along the Itaewon streets — a huge plus 🥰

What is on the menu at Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon?

Looking through the menu, there was the rich gamjatang broth as the main dish, plus the many bone stews this place is known for as one of Itaewon's go-to bone stew spots, and also grilled bones packed with smoky char flavor — the variety was really impressive 🔥

On top of that, there were also rice dishes and a whole range of drinks, so I got stuck happily agonizing over what to order 🤤

After a lot of deliberation, I ended up ordering grilled beef bones with ramyeon noodles, a sundae add-on, and self-fried rice.

Side dishes by serving robot, free broth with flame-grilled bones

Once you order, the classic gamjatang-restaurant staples — napa cabbage kimchi and diced radish kimchi — arrive, and get this, they're brought to your table by an adorable serving robot 🤖✨

And if you order the grilled bones, you get a complimentary broth served separately in a stone pot, which is great for spooning up alongside the spicy grilled bones 👍

The sundae add-on goes with soup dishes, not the grilled bones

We assumed the sundae (blood sausage) would come with the grilled bones, but for reference, sundae is actually an add-on for the soup dishes! It's not meant to go in with the grilled bones but with the broth-based menu, so keep that in mind if you visit haha

Self-fried rice requires an order of 2 or more, and it's tasty and clean-flavored even eaten plain!!

How do the flame-grilled bones (small) with ramyeon noodles taste?

And finally, today's star arrives — the grilled beef bones! 🤩 Even in the 'small' size, the portion was massive, honestly impressive 🍖 On top of that, we added ramyeon noodles, and the hot plate was overflowing with food 👏

First, I slurped up the ramyeon noodles 🍜 It's a bit spicy, less than Buldak but still spicy in that addictive, tasty way, which went perfectly with the side salad 🥗✨

Next, I tried the grilled bones — the meat was thick and packed on, so picking it off the bone was really fun 😋

It was less spicy than the ramyeon noodles, and the smoky char flavor combined with a soft, juicy texture was outstanding 💯 It totally made sense why so many people rave about this place!

Why the self-serve fried rice is a must-order

After enjoying the grilled bones for a while, we had the staff fry up the self-fried rice we'd pre-ordered, loaded generously with the picked bone meat 🍳

Stir-frying the grilled bone sauce together with the meat is honestly the ultimate combo 🥹 The savory depth of the grilled bone seasoning paired with the aged kimchi was so perfect that this fried rice was simply impossible to mess up 🤫 This isn't optional — it's an absolute must-order! (Highly, highly recommend 👍)

Is Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon worth a visit?
